The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 brings major performance upgrades to Qualcomm’s premium lineup, led by a custom-built Oryon CPU that reaches peak speeds of 3.8 GHz. Qualcomm claims a 36% boost in overall performance and a massive 76% jump in web browsing responsiveness over the previous generation. The new chipset also aims to redefine mobile interactions with smarter, more responsive AI capabilities. Thanks to the Qualcomm Sensing Hub, users can activate their AI assistant simply by lifting their device, enabling intuitive hands-free experiences. Context-aware interactions powered by the upgraded AI Engine bring personalised suggestions, seamless task automation, and more natural on-device intelligence that adapts to user behaviour.
Positioned firmly in the premium tier, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 expands high-end features, ranging from enhanced AI to camera and gaming innovations, to a wider base of flagship smartphones. Qualcomm says this redesign reflects the growing demand for smarter, more capable devices that deliver consistently high performance.
Leading OEMs including OnePlus, iQOO, Motorola, and Vivo will integrate the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 into their upcoming flagship launches. Qualcomm executives highlight that the platform puts users at the centre of the experience, offering the speed, efficiency, and creative potential required to stay productive and push boundaries in everyday mobile use.
