Ponant Announces “Made in Italy” 2027 Mediterranean Voyage

Ponant Explorations has announced a new cruise dedicated to the arts and crafts, celebrating Italy’s elegance. Setting sail in 2027 aboard Le Boréal, “Made in Italy, the luxury edition” is created in collaboration with Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Brioni, Pomellato and Ginori 1735.

A sensory immersion awaits passengers: Gucci House will open the doors of the Gucci Archive, housed in a 15th-century Renaissance palazzo, closed to the public, and the Palazzo Gucci in the heart of Florence. Onboard, the guests can also discover an exclusive exhibition dedicated to “The Art of Travel.” Guests will also experience Bottega Veneta’s artisanship with an insider glimpse at its most iconic craft in the making, besides an exclusive itinerary through some of the most hidden treasures of Venice, culminating with a cocktail at the Bottega Veneta Residence in Palazzo Soranzo Van Axel.

Born in Rome in 1945, Brioni represents the pinnacle of sartorial excellence, where refined ease and uncompromising craftsmanship define a uniquely modern vision of elegance. During this exclusive journey, guests will attend a presentation of Brioni’s expertise by a master tailor, unveiling the secrets of exquisite craftsmanship, where tradition, sophistication and technical perfection meet, and every detail is crafted with precision.

A pioneer of free-spirited, elegant and colorful jewelry, Pomellato brings out the best in precious stones with sensual creations, combining goldsmithing tradition with innovation. With his discerning, passionate eye, Gem Master and Director of Precious Stone Purchasing Stefano Cortecci will guide guests on a journey of discovery through the refined and captivating universe of jewelry.

Ginori 1735 represents Italian excellence through the art of porcelain, where each piece reflects savoir-faire. Passengers can enjoy a tour of its historic Florentine Manifattura, a special moment when the Ginori 1735 craftsmen will demonstrate the beauty of a heritage handed down from generation to generation. Onboard, a craftsman will give a porcelain painting demonstration, while a Café Ginori experience, installed in the ship’s observatory lounge, will celebrate “true Italian-style coffee” for a gourmet experience.

Under the golden September skies, a different side of Italy emerges: precious and authentic. From the shores of Tuscany to the Venetian lagoon, Le Boréal will sail the waters of the Mediterranean, between Portoferraio and its golden vineyards, east-facing Otranto, Sorrento looking out to Capri and its citrus scents. On the island of Elba, the memory of Napoleon is reflected in the azure waters of the coves, while from Taormina, Mount Etna rises up opposite its ancient theater.

The ports of call give pride of place to cultural visits and local discoveries. Depending on their mood, passengers can stroll through the narrow streets of Tuscany, visit museums, Baroque churches and ancient sites or taste sun-kissed vintages at wineries. The cuisine onboard is equally impressive, with the scent of olive oil and basil revealing the Italian soul in cuisine inspired by the regions visited.
