Oscars 2022 Adds ‘Fan Favourite’ Category And You Can Vote For It On Twitter

The awards season this year has been tumultuous. Oscar nominations arrived not long ago and the awards race remains unpredictable. There is tough competition in almost every major category, especially the Best Picture section that has some unexpected entrants. And yet there are many titles that fans are convinced deserve a nod at the Academy Awards. Perhaps that’s why the Oscars 2022 has announced a twitter-voted fan favourite category.

From next week onwards, fans can vote for their favourite films on Twitter. Consider this an audience choice alternative to the Best Picture category. Twitter users can tweet the title of their favourite film along with hashtags – #OscarsFanFavorite and #Sweepstakes. One can cast no more than 20 votes in a day. These votes can be for any films from the past year, even titles that have not received Oscar nominations. Apart from Twitter, fans can also submit their votes on the official website of the Academy. The winner will be announced at the Academy Awards that will be held on March 27, 2022.

Nominations for the Best Picture category for this year include Nightmare Alley, Don’t Look Up, Dune, Drive My Car, Belfast, Licorice Pizza, The Power of the Dog, West Side Story, King Richard and CODA. While that is already a crowded line-up, there are quite a few films that won hearts like Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spencer, The French Dispatch, The Green Knight, Dune, tick, tick… BOOM! and No Time To Die. While some of these are crowd-pleasers, others garnered critical acclaim.

The Academy seems to be applying certain reforms, like so many this awards season after concerns of fans cancelling the event were made known. However, this is the perfect opportunity for fans to make their Oscar snubs known and rally for their top picks.

Check out the full list of nominations:

Indian firm Grasim’s consolidated revenue up 16% to ₹24K cr in Q3 FY22

Grasim Industries Limited, a flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group, has reported that its consolidated revenue for third quarter (Q3) of fiscal 2022 (FY22) was up 16 per cent at ₹24,402 crore, EBITDA stood at ₹4,107 crore and PAT at ₹1,746 crore was up 26 per cent, on a YoY basis. Its standalone revenue for Q3 FY22 jumped 56 per cent to ₹5,785 crore.

The growth in the global demand for textile products in the US and Europe led to a positive demand environment for VSF. Chinese fibre and yarn manufacturers witnessed a sharp uptick in the operating rates (OR) in January 2022 after a brief dip in Q3 FY22. The OR for VSF improved to a 12-month high of 83 per cent, and for yarn, it improved to 55 per cent in January 2022. The VSF prices averaged higher in Q3 FY22 compared to the previous quarter. Though towards the end of December 2021, the realisation started to trend downwards due to COVID concerns, the company said in a media release.

The strong operational performance of VSF has been induced by strong demand for textile products in India during Q3 FY22, despite the curbs imposed by various state governments. The domestic textile value chain has been operating close to its peak capacity, which is led by the demand uptick.

The VSF sales volume for Q3 FY22 were further boosted by the commissioning of brownfield expansion (300 TPD) at Vilayat. The share of value-added products in the overall sales mix increased to 29 per cent. The VFY business reported strong operational and financial performance on a sequential basis driven by strong demand and improvement in realisation despite cost pressure.

The 300 TPD line of the VSF brownfield expansion (out of total 600 TPD) at Vilayat commissioned in November 2021 is operating at full capacity, the balance 300 TPD has also been successfully commissioned on 12th February, 2022.

The company also said that its VSF business has taken the target to achieve Net Zero Carbon emissions across all its operations by 2040. The company participated for the first time in CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) in 2021 and has received a management band score B-. The VSF unit at Kharach has been bestowed with the CII-ITC Sustainability Award 2021 for Excellence in Environment Management.

Besides VSF, the consolidated revenue includes the company’s other verticals like its chemical business, paint business, cement subsidiary UltraTech Cement Limited and financial services subsidiary Aditya Birla Capital Limited (ABCL).

This Iconic Palm Beach Restaurant Offers The Best Spot For Alfresco Dining

You know you have arrived in Palm Beach when you spy a Spicy Socialite cocktail, Dolce & Gabbana pasta, and bacon-wrapped designer meatloaf on the menu at one of the most stylish restaurants in town.

Like many New Yorkers of late, Swifty’s is now in Florida, but the luxe restaurant actually had the right idea to make the move back in 2019 when it first debuted at the swanky Colony Hotel.

Courtesy of The Colony Hotel

Swifty’s became an iconic landmark in New York’s Upper East Side, attracting an endless roster of A-list celebrities from Frank Sinatra to John Lennon who remained loyal over the years. When the New York outpost suddenly announced in 2016 it was closing, devotees of the haute spot revered for its “club without dues” type atmosphere had to wait three years before it resurfaced in Florida.

Since then, the beloved original concept from founder Robert Caravaggi has been embraced as a welcome addition to the island. The reinvented concept now sits prominently poolside at the luxury hotel known as the “Pink Paradise” located steps from tony Worth Avenue.

Just a few months ago, the 89-room boutique hotel unveiled a full guest room redesign to celebrate its 75th anniversary. One of the most notable features is the beautiful, custom-designed de Gournay murals located off the elevators on each floor.

The hotel also recently announced a variety of collaborations in art, wellness, fashion and design to celebrate its anniversary. Now through March, discerning shoppers can visit Dolce & Gabbana’s first Palm Beach retail concept in the hotel’s retail space, The Colony Edit. Offering womenswear from the new Resort and Spring Collections, the boutique also features luxury collections of menswear, jewelry, children’s and home.

The nearby Swifty’s also pays homage to the Italian designer with a specialty pasta named after the luxury fashion house. Offering sophisticated indoor and chic outdoor dining options, we think some of the best tables can be found poolside under the romantic hanging garden.

New Yorkers will appreciate that cult favorites like the Billionaire’s Bacon and Meatloaf, and Murray’s New York Chicken Paillard can still be found on the menu here. A collection of “Table Snacks” offers everything from chilled crudité of local farm vegetables with white bean hummus; and parmesan cheese scones with strawberry and truffle preserve; to their signature cheese and charcuterie board for two; and crushed avocado and fresh salsa served with tortilla chips.

The raw bar collection provides an impressive offering of fresh Florida stone crab claws, East Coast oysters and smoked salmon. For the ultimate indulgence, there are Polish Siberian, Amber Osetra, and American Beluga caviar offerings served with traditional garnish.

We got started with a jaw-dropping order of poached colossal shrimp (and they do mean colossal) served with a side of spicy cocktail sauce and fresh lemon.

Our server, Patty, recommended we try one of their most popular starters – chickpea, jalapeno and cilantro fritters – and we were glad she did. Six crispy fritters arrived served atop tahini dressing topped with a flavor-filled, carrot apricot puree and sesame seeds.

For main events, the eight-ounce Creekstone filet mignon was a standout. Be sure to complement the dish with one of their signature sides like crispy Brussels sprouts (our favorite), haricots verts almondine, creamed spinach, ratatouille or grilled asparagus.

Kellie Speed

Another highlight was the creamy Dolce & Gabbana “designer pasta” tossed with leeks, tomatoes, mushrooms, and corn.

Other entrees that sounded tasty included a pink peppercorn-crusted, grilled Berkshire pork chop; southern fried chicken; and grilled Chilean sea bass with shallot beurre blanc.

As The Colony’s Executive Chef Tom Whitaker says on the website, “Fine dining is art. It is beauty created from the finest cuisine, in the best surroundings, with impeccable service. It is an orchestra, each person playing their part at the right place and time to forge an experience like no other, ensuring guests are overjoyed with something more than just a meal.”

That’s just what he has created here.

Swifty’s is located inside The Colony Hotel at 155 Hammon Avenue in Palm Beach.

[ad_1]

Comets fall among the most common deep space celestial objects that make it’s way from space, but this particular one is pacing towards our solar system and too at a considerable speed. With a surface-equivalent diameter of about 137 kilometres and claimed to be of a monstrous size could soon be making its way. The comet is heading towards a perihelion of almost 11 astronomical units, or 1.62 billion kilometres, in 2031 itself. Read below to understand as the comet driffts through our solar system and makes its trajectory.

Bernardinelli-Bernstein

A comet whose nomenclature goes by Bernardinelli-Bernstein is gliding through pur solar system. This particular one has been dubbed as one of the largest with its elevation level as high as 848.86 metres, or around 8.85 kilometres. This makes it as big as the Mount Everest which is the highest peaks in the world and is situated is the grasp of the Himalayas. The most interesting thing though is that the comet is almost unfathomably large and difficult to comprehend.

Reports even suggest that the comet is six times larger than the one which caused the extinction of the dinosaurs ranging 65 million years prior. Bernardinelli-Bernstein is the prominent archetype of distant comets, whose activity is driven by hypervolatiles (compounds such as carbon monoxide and methane.

Veteran India middle-order batter Cheteshwar Pujara is all set to play his 100th Test in the second match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, that starts on Friday in Delhi. Pujara will become the 13th Indian to play 100 or more Tests, with Sachin Tendulkar (200 Tests) leading the pack. He made his Test debut in 2010 against Australia and has kept himself in the reckoning in the longest format ever since, overcoming the troughs in his professional career with hard work and determination.

Ahead of the Test match, Pujara and his wife Puja met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. “It was an honour to meet our Hon. Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji. I will cherish the interaction and encouragement ahead of my 100th Test. Thank you @PMOIndia,” Pujara tweeted.

“Delighted to have met Puja and you today. Best wishes for your 100th Test and your career. @cheteshwar1,” Prime Minister Modi wrote while responding to the tweet.

On the upcoming milestone, where his family will be there to cheer him at the stadium, Pujara told ESPNCricinfo, “Yes, it will be my 100th Test match, but you still have a job to do for the team and you focus on that a bit more. We are playing an important series against Australia.

“Yes, the second Test will be my 100th, but there will be two more Tests after that which will be very important for us to win to qualify for the WTC final,” said Pujara, indicating the milestone will be just another footmark in his long professional career.

He added that discipline is one of the biggest prerogatives to excel in Test cricket as the five-day game tests ones character, patience and temperament to the limit.

Dutch 3D & AI fashion firm PTTRNS.ai secures €2 mn seed funding

[ad_1]

PTTRNS.ai, a Dutch 3D and AI firm that specialises in digitalising and personalising the fashion industry, has announced a successful seed round of funding, securing €2 million. The investment will enable PTTRNS.ai to develop its SaaS platform further and expand its international customer base.

The company has already established its platform’s value in the market, and with this latest investment from the EVCF II Growth Capital fund, it plans to scale up and continue to develop its AI personalisation and 3D visualisation technology.

PTTRNS.ai, a Dutch 3D and AI firm that specialises in digitalising and personalising the fashion industry, has announced a successful seed round of funding, securing €2 million. The company, with this latest investment from the EVCF II Growth Capital fund, plans to scale up and continue to develop its AI personalisation and 3D visualisation technology.

PTTRNS.ai aims to help fashion brands and retailers increase their efficiency, profitability, and sustainability by leveraging advanced 3D visualisation techniques and AI-powered personalisation, the company said in a press release.

The firm’s technology can transform the fashion industry by providing personalised shopping experiences for customers and increasing brands’ efficiency by automating the design process. PTTRNS.ai’s mission is to bring innovation to the fashion industry, and it has gained recognition for its pioneering work.

The innovative 3D visualisation technology of PTTRNS.ai enables brands to generate photorealistic visuals in an early development stage based on design patterns. This is directly both time- and cost-saving. Additionally, the digitalised images and clips can be used to present to consumers directly, deploying AI-driven personalisation technology that understands consumer behaviour, preferences and desires.

The resulting ‘digital stylist’ profoundly understands end-consumers on a personal level, providing advice to boost consumer confidence during the purchasing process. This, in turn, benefits brands and (online) retailers by lowering returns and increasing sales figures and customer loyalty.

“We are thrilled to have raised this funding and to be able to continue our mission of revolutionising the fashion industry,” said Marco van Herpen, founder and managing director of PTTRNS.ai. “By using AI-powered personalisation and 3D visualisation techniques, we can help fashion companies become more sustainable while also increasing their bottom line.”

“PTTRNS.ai has developed a truly unique solution that addresses a real need in the necessary transition of the fashion industry,” said Ruben Baijens, investment director and partner of ECFG. “We believe in the company’s vision, its experienced senior management team and the commitment to their feasible development roadmap. We are excited to be part of the growth of PTTRNS.ai within the fashion industry.”
