The never-ending craze surrounding Korean survival drama seems to be growing with each day, ultimately turning out to become one of the most profitable gambles for giant-streaming platform Netflix. According to a Bloomberg report, the company expects the Korean drama to generate nearly $900 million, which would turn out to be quite cost-efficient as compared to other Netflix shows like The Crown, Stranger Things and others.

Earlier this month, Netflix took to its official Twitter handle to announce that Squid Game surpassed Bridgerton to become the biggest ever series launch with 111 million views. “Squid Game has officially reached 111 million fans — making it our biggest series launch ever!” Netflix tweeted.

The report also suggested that the nine-episode dystopian series has now reached 132 million views, creating a new record. Furthermore, it also reported that it has already generated $891 million, and Netflix expects it to go beyond the $900 million mark, with reports of the second season already making rounds on the internet.

While memes and challenges related to the Korean drama have taken over the internet, a UK road sign resembling the Squid Game symbol (a circle, square and triangle), left many motorists confused. With the British Police pitching in to resolve the issue with a clarification note, the Squid Game fever seems to have grabbed everyone’s attention. A popular Nigerian group recently shared a ‘low budget’ parody of the show which instantly struck a chord with the audience, who praised the young and talented artists for their creativity.

Directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the Korean dystopian drama stars a series of talented actors: Jung Ho-yeon, Park Hae-soo, Heo Sung-tae, Lee Jung-jae and among others. Recently, a report also suggested that the Netflix series is also eligible to participate in the upcoming Emmy nominations.
