It is to be noted that not much is known about his dating life as he prefers to keep it under wraps, away from the limelight. His first known public relationship was with Maika Monroe. They reportedly dated for around six years, from 2017 to 2023. Over the years, they appeared on many red carpets, including the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party in March 2022.

He added that he separated from his ex right before he was leaving for Rome for the shoot of Fargo season 5. While unconfirmed, after Maika, Joe was linked to I Know What You Did Last Summer actress Chase Sui Wonders. Rumours about their romance surfaced on the internet after Page Six shared photos of them strolling through the streets of New York City in 2023. They were again spotted in February 2024, a few months after their separation from Pete Davidson and Maika were confirmed.
