Indian cricketer Virat Kohli stunned the entire nation by stepping down as India’s Test captain on Saturday evening, post the team’s recent series loss in South Africa. While the maverick cricketer penned a long emotional note talking about the ups and downs of his career, Virat’s partner Anushka Sharma also joined the long bandwagon of millions of fans reacting to his decision.
Looking back at Virat’s journey, Anushka wrote, “I remember the day in 2014 when you told me that you have been made the captain as MS had decided to retire from test cricket.” She continued, “I am very proud of your growth as the captain of the Indian National Cricket team & what achievements the team had under your leadership. But I’m more proud of the growth you achieved within you.”
While Anushka praised Virat’s efforts in her post, an Indian journalist didn’t seem to agree with her and ended up comparing her to other Indian cricket legends wives. He wrote, “Quite don’t understand that captaincy or leaving it merits such back to back purgation of emotions by a couple when only interest paramount be that of Team India. Never before spouses of greats Sehwag, Ganguly, Sachin, VVS, Gambhir, Dhoni made a spectacle of their careers.”
