IAF Says Operation Sindoor Continues; Netizens Hail Their Valor After Response To Pakistan

India and Pakistan, on May 10, agreed to a ceasefire bringing halt to hostilities that escalated following India’s Operation Sindoor, a military operation launched on May 7 in retaliation for a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, J&K. The ceasefire was reportedly brokered by US President Donald Trump who hailed the leadership of the two nations.

Operation Sindoor targeted nine terrorist facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), selected based on credible intelligence linking them to terrorist activities. The operation was a direct response to the April 22 terror attack in a scenic meadow in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali national.

The Indian Air Force (IAF), in a statement, said that it achieved the objectives of the mission while stating that the operation is still underway. “The Indian Air Force (IAF) has successfully executed its assigned tasks in Operation Sindoor, with precision and professionalism. Operations were conducted in a deliberate and discreet manner, aligned with National Objectives. Since the Operations are still ongoing, a detailed briefing will be conducted in due course. The IAF urges all to refrain from speculation and dissemination of unverified information,” the IAF posted on X.

On May 10, the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both nations had agreed to an immediate ceasefire, halting all military actions on land, sea, and air from 5 p.m. IST. However, India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed the violation by Pakistan just hours later, calling it out to commit to the ceasefire.

Meanwhile, Indians hailed government’s crackdown on terror in Pakistan while taking note of the IAF’s statement. Although many were confused about the ceasefire and a continuation of Operation Sindoor, others clarified that continuation may mean surveillance, readiness and patrolling by the armed forces.

“You guys were phenomenal! Extraordinary valour and pride of 140 million hearts! Salute you,” one user commented. Many are expecting more military strikes in Pakistan to avenge the Pahalgam massacre.
