Housefull 5 Worldwide Box Office Collection Day 1: Akshay Kumar Starrer Collects Rs 40 Crore On the Opening Day

Helmed by Tarun Mansukhani, Housefull 5 released on the big screens this Friday. With an ensemble cast of Akshay Kumar, Nargis Fakhri, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Riteish Deshmukh, and Soundarya Sharma, among many others, the thriller comedy murder-mystery has received mixed reviews from the critics as well as the netizens. While some lauded the brainless comedy, others are bashing it for its regressive jokes and oversexualising women. Others are questioning how such a film was greenlit in this day and age.

Well, amidst all the chatter on social media, the film seems to be doing very well at the box office. Quoting a recent report by Sacnilk, Hindustan Times reports that the film has collected Rs 40 crore worldwide on its opening day. The report adds that the film has earned Rs 24 crore net and Rs 28.75 crore gross in India on Friday. According to the producers, Nadiawala Grandson, the film has made Rs 24.35 crore net in India. Housefull 5 has reportedly earned Rs 12 crore from overseas, so the total earnings of the film stands at around Rs 40.75 crore.

It is to be noted that Housefull 5 is Kumar’s third release of the year, after Sky Force and Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story Of Jallianwala Bagh. The media publication stated that the latter had a Rs 14 crore opening worldwide. Reportedly, the earnings of Housefull 5 are better than his 2021 film Sooryavanshi, Rohit Shetty’s cop drama, which had made Rs 39.50 crore on its opening day. It will be interesting to see how the film holds itself in the coming weeks, especially since the makers have release two versions of the film.

Being one of the most popular franchises in India, the first installment of Housefull (2010) as well as the second installment, released in 2012, were directed by Sajid Khan. They have collected Rs 119 crore and Rs 188 crore respectively. The third installment of the comedy caper was directed by Sajid-Farhad. Released in 2016, Housefull 3 made a collection of Rs 185 crore. Farhad Samji had directed Housefull 4 (2019), which had earned Rs 296 crore. With Tarun Mansukhani directing the upcoming film, Sajid Nadiadwala has produced the franchise under his production banner, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.

Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, Housefull 5 is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, who has also written the story and the screenplay of the film. The movie is scheduled for release on June 6, 2025.
