Heads Of State X Review: Priyanka Chopra-John Cena-Idris Elba Action Flick Gets Fairly Mixed Reviews

Amazon Prime’s Heads of State brings Hollywood’s iconic trio together in frame for the first time, namely wrestler-actor John Cena, Idris Elba, and desi gal Priyanka Chopra Jonas. While Cena and Elba portray the heads of states—the US President and UK Prime Minister, respectively—Priyanka stuns as an MI6 agent. The Ilya Naishuller flick also features Jack Quaid and Carla Gugino amongst an ensemble of stars.

One user online remarked, “HEADS OF STATE is rip-roaring summer blockbuster fun! John Cena and Idris Elba are an action comedy pairing of epic proportions, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas has never been better. Action-packed, absolutely hilarious, and endlessly entertaining, it’s everything you could want from a summer blockbuster.” The user added, “I loved every second of it. A must-watch!”

Another quipped, “it’s wild, fun, and totally doesn’t take itself too seriously!”

Siddhant Adlakha notes, “Colour me surprised: the fake-looking Prime movie “Heads of State” (starring John Cena, Idris Elba and Priyanka Chopra) is a blast. “What if a dumb action star was POTUS” may not be an imaginative or politically sensitive premise, but it pays dividends.”

Matt Neglia remarks, “HEADS OF STATE is easily the least inspired directorial effort yet from action director Ilya Naishuller following the absurd fun of “Hardcore Henry” & “Nobody.” John Cena & Idris Elba share some amusing banter and have decent chemistry as two clashing world leaders forced to team up, but their charm can’t save a story this pointless.”

Nigeia adds, “It’s filled with generic villains, set pieces, and worst of all, it squanders any chance at meaningful political commentary that could have given it a shred of relevance. Instead, it’s a forgettable waste of so many talented people’s time & energy.”

Another user hails Priyanka as the saving grace of the flick: “Heads of State is saved only by Priyanka Chopra Jonas—the odd couple dynamic between John Cena and Idris Elba is fine but thin.”
