Apple has rolled out exciting new updates for Logic Pro, its flagship music production software, bringing fresh tools and features designed to make life easier and more creative for musicians, producers, and sound designers. Version 11.2 for Mac and 2.2 for iPad introduce powerful improvements that give users more control and flexibility in how they create and edit music.
One of the biggest highlights is the upgraded Stem Splitter. This tool now does a better job of separating different instruments in a track, like guitar or piano, even from older demos or mixed recordings. It’s a game-changer for anyone who wants to remix a song, create a karaoke version, or just work with specific elements of a track more easily.

To simplify the editing process even further, Apple has added quick presets that help users instantly create common audio versions such as instrumentals or acapellas. There’s also a new submix export option, which lets you export songs with certain parts removed, like taking out the vocals or stripping the drums and bass for remixing.
A feature that many musicians will appreciate is Flashback Capture. It’s designed for those moments when inspiration strikes but you forget to hit record. With a simple command or tap, you can now recover both MIDI and audio from your recent session. If you’re working in Loop (Cycle) mode, every take is automatically saved in a folder, no more lost gems!
Apple has also introduced a fresh batch of sound packs to inspire new creations:
- Dancefloor Rush (for Mac and iPad) includes over 400 loops and kits perfect for electronic and drum-and-bass music.
- Magnetic Imperfections (Mac only) offers gritty, analog-inspired sounds with a vintage tape machine vibe.
- Tosin Abasi (Mac only) brings the powerful tones and textures of the renowned metal guitarist, perfect for heavier genres.
iPad users get something special too, Learn MIDI, previously only available on Mac, is now on iPad. It lets you link your physical MIDI gear (like knobs and sliders) to instruments and effects in Logic Pro, making your production workflow more hands-on and intuitive.
As for pricing:
- The Mac update (v11.2) is free for current users, or $199.99 for new users via the Mac App Store.
- The iPad update (v2.2) is also free for existing users. New users can subscribe for $4.99/month or $49/year, with a one-month free trial.
