Before Spider-Man: No Way Home released in theatres, before we witnessed the joy of watching the most wholesome Spidey crossover and the return of epic movie villains, Andrew Garfield was out there keeping his appearance in the film a secret. And he had a gala time lying to everyone in every interview, he admitted as much. Turns out, he wasn’t just lying to us, he also lied to his The Amazing Spider-Man co-star and former girlfriend Emma Stone. Stone played Gwen Stacy in the movie series.

Garfield has revealed fresh details about his No Way Home stint, including how he even had Emma Stone fooled. In a recent interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he told host Joshua Horowitz that he kept his role a secret in spite of Stone texting him about all the rumours. “Emma kept on texting me, she was like ‘Are you in this new Spider-Man film?’ And I was like, ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about?'” he said reflecting on the conversation.

Of course, Stone watched the film and eventually realised Garfield is indeed in it. “I’m like, ‘I honestly don’t know’. I kept it going, even with her. And then she saw it. She was like, ‘You’re a jerk.'” the actor explained.
