Agilyx & GreenDot partner to boost polystyrene recycling in EU

Agilyx ASA (OSE: AGLX; OTCQX: AGXXF) (“Agilyx” or “the company”) announces it has executed an MOU with DerGrunePunkt, commonly known as GreenDot. Under the collaboration, GreenDot, which processes over 300,000 tons per year of lightweight packaging, would supply waste polystyrene feedstock to Agilyx´ Styrenyx plants for advanced recycling into styrene monomer. GreenDot is to leverage its preferred access to plastic waste through its leading position in Germany´s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) sector.

Agilyx has signed an MOU with GreenDot to supply waste polystyrene for advanced recycling at Agilyx’s Styrenyx plants.
The partnership aims to produce up to 20,000 tons annually of plastic feedstock, supporting brand owners in meeting EU recycled content targets.
GreenDot leverages its strong EPR position in Germany to provide consistent, high-volume waste access.

The initial efforts are anticipated to produce up to 20,000 tons per year of customized plastic feedstock, suitable for applications targeted by Agilyx in the European Economic Area (EEA). It is the intention of the collaboration to prioritize supply of the recycled styrene monomer to brand owner customers of GreenDot´s EPR business to help them in achieving the recycled content targets of the newly implemented Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

Agilyx CEO Ranjeet Bhatia commented:

“We are very pleased with this agreement and the synergy between GreenDot, an early mover in the European advanced recycling feedstock industry, and our Styrenyx plants, the industry´s first commercial solution for scalable recycling of waste polystyrene. We are excited to take this important step to establish a cost-effective, stable, and long-term sourcing partnership with GreenDot.”

DerGrunePunkt CEO Laurent Auguste commented:

“We have unique access to high volumes of waste plastic through our existing programs, and the expertise and capacity to produce advanced recycling feedstock. We are pleased to collaborate with Agilyx to increase the recycling rates of polystyrene. Along with our rPE and rPP offering, providing our existing global brand customers with access to recycled polystyrene helps close the loop on their packaging needs”.
