Artemis II: NASA Launches Illustrated Guide On SLS For Kids; Download The Book For Future Astronauts Here

If you have been looking for an Artemis II resource that is curated for the young ones, NASA has got you covered. The space agency has released a series of illustrated guides for kids. The one that usually piques the curiosity of children is the concept of rockets that, in their imagination, travel beyond what humans have traveled both IRL and in the fictional realms.

The illustrated book “Hooray for SLS” is a fun introduction of what the 11 million pound and over 300 ft high Space Launch System (SLS) does. For the unversed, the SLS, one of the most powerful rockets built by NASA will carry the Orion spacecraft with four astronauts [NASA’s Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, and CSA (Canadian Space Agency) astronaut Jeremy Hansen] to the lunar orbit in a 10-day mission. The powerful rocket will also launch four CubeSats to High Earth Orbit.

The illustrated guide on SLS for kids explains in the simplest language appropriate for tiny tots to comprehend what a venture these missions will be.

Written by Lane Polak and illustrated by Heather Rose Legge-Click, the SLS guide teaches the kids the parts of the rocket and its function in a way that’ll not daunt parents and educators. The book is available in English, Spanish, and French, along with a coloring companion with printable illustrations. You can download ‘Hooray for SLS’ here.

There is also a YouTube version of the ‘Hooray for SLS’ book.
