Earlier this year, Sony had increased the price of the digital edition PS5 by Rs. 5,000 in India, raising it from Rs. 44,990 to Rs. 49,990, while keeping the physical edition unchanged. Notably, the PS5 digital edition originally launched at Rs. 39,990 in India.
Globally, PS5 prices have been impacted by an uncertain economic environment and tariffs. In April, Sony raised prices across the UK, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand following US import tariffs. Last month, PS5 and PS5 Pro prices were also increased in the US. Other manufacturers, including Microsoft, have similarly raised Xbox console prices worldwide, citing economic pressures and tariffs.
