24-year-old pugilist from Bhiwani, Haryana, defeated Paris Olympics silver medalist Julia Szeremeta of Poland in the women’s 57kg final at the 2025 World Championship to claim gold for India.
A Naib Subedar in the Indian army, Jaismine outclassed Julia with a smashing 4-1 win. With the title win, she also became the first woman boxer from the Indian Army to clinch a gold at the prestigious World Boxing Championship 2025.
At the event held in England’s Liverpool, Jaismine Lamboria was lagging behind in the first round before making a comeback in the succeeding rounds.
She now joins the ranks of women world champions from India, including six-time champ Mary Kom, two-time winner Nikhat Zareen, Sarita Devi, Jenny RL, Lekha KC, Nitu Ghangha, Lovlina Borgohain and Saweety Boora.

Besides Jaismine Lamboria, Minaksh Hooda grabbed a gold in the 48 kg event, while Nupur Sheoran won a silver (80+ kg) and Pooja Rani earned a bronze (80 kg). With four titles, India now ranks third in the leaderboard, behind Uzbekistan’s 11 (six gold, two silver, and three bronze) and Kazakhstan’s 10 (seven gold, one silver, and two bronze).
