US President Donald Trump, on Monday, finally acknowledged the brutal murder of Chandra Nagamallaiah, who was beheaded in front of his wife and 18-year-old son on September 10. The 50-year-old Indian-origin man was a motel manager in Dallas, Texas and got attacked by Yordanis Cobos-Martinez (37), an illegal Cuban immigrant employed at the same motel.
Reports say the murderer, who has a violent rap sheet, attacked Nagamallaiah with a machete because he was upset over being asked not to use a broken washing machine. Reacting to the murder, Trump has assured that Cobos-Martinez will be “prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

“I am aware of the terrible reports regarding the murder of Chandra Nagamallaiah, a well respected person in Dallas, Texas, who was brutally beheaded, in front of his wife and son, by an ILLEGAL ALIEN from Cuba who should have never been in our Country,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “This individual was previously arrested for terrible crimes, including child sex abuse, grand theft auto, and false imprisonment, but was released back into our Homeland under incompetent Joe Biden because Cuba did not want such an evil person in their Country,” he further said vowing to harden his stance on “illegal immigrant criminals.”
There is anger among the Indian community in US for lack of attention despite the brutality of the crime which transpired in broad daylight. Many social media users in India and abroad pointed out how sympathetic the Americans were over the murder of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska, who was stabbed to death on a train in Charlotte, North Carolina in August. Several Indians believe it would’ve been a different story if the motel victim was white.

Allowing violent illegal aliens to stay in our country isn’t compassion, it’s cruelty. Well said by President Trump. https://t.co/OLfRcoOndK

Besides, the assassination of political activist and podcaster Charlie Kirk on September 11 left little airtime for Nagamallaiah’s death.
Among the politicians in US, Vivek Ramaswamy was the first to react to Nagamallaiah’s killing, three days after the crime took place. Reacting to Trump’s statement today, Ramaswamy said – “Allowing violent illegal aliens to stay in our country isn’t compassion, it’s cruelty. Well said by President Trump.”
