Inside Europe’s Newest Luxury Hotel Suites

For high-flying travelers, Europe remains a must-stop on the global itinerary. Whether jetting to Paris for a wardrobe refresh on Avenue Montaigne and a three-Michelin-starred meal or soaking up the culture and skyline views of Old Town Prague, Europe’s capitals always deliver, especially when it comes to the essential setting for a stylish escape: opulent hotel suites.

In 2024, luxury travel to the continent generated over $500 million in revenue. San Francisco-based Grand View Research projects that number will grow by more than $250 million by 2030. In other words, the stakes have never been higher for hospitality players looking to woo affluent travelers with authentic experiences and next-level amenities that go well beyond Eiffel Tower views and a bottle of Krug.

“High-end travelers have a stronger desire for spaces that feel both indulgent and residential, with integrated wellness touches, layered lighting, functional workspaces, and intuitive tech,” says Lenka Vitovská, director of marketing at Fairmont Golden Prague, Fairmont’s newest European outpost, which opened in April.

Today’s luxury hotels aim to be part of the cultural and social fabric of their destinations. Suites are now layered with custom décor, museum-worthy art, and design details that reflect a city’s creative heritage. Demand is also growing for spa-like features and multifunctional spaces where guests can relax and work, according to Kenan Simmons, senior vice president for the Americas at Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

However, true luxury, he says, still comes down to personalization.

“We’re seeing that the amenities offered in the VIP suites are increasingly designed to offer a truly individualized experience, moving beyond standard luxury to cater to the specific desires of each guest,” adds Simmons. “At the end of the day, our guests are all looking for their own kind of luxury.”

Here’s the scoop on the newest and buzziest hotel suites in Europe’s capital cities.

Madrid

The Spanish capital’s Grand Dame, The Palace Hotel Madrid, now part of Marriott’s The Luxury Collection, has emerged from an extensive renovation led by Barcelona-based interior designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán. The glam-up of the Belle Epoque gem includes the redesign of all 50 suites, transforming them into masterworks of modern sophistication with touches of (tasteful) historic opulence. Guests in the 1,808-square-foot Royal Suite can unwind in an oval living room clad in sculpted marble, wood, and pops of color, while taking in panoramic views of the Neptuno Fountain through expansive, floor-to-ceiling arched windows. A second living room doubles as a chic, club-like space, with graphite-hued walls, a fireplace, and a mixology bar with wine fridge.

Evok Collection’s first Brach hotel outside France debuted in Madrid in January. Brach Madrid is for those seeking a residential-style stay, curated by Philippe Starck. Its 785-square-foot Antonio Suite is filled with local art and books, warm woods, and a palette of caramels and soft textures, channeling the elegant coziness of a chic home. An outdoor terrace with a daybed, freestanding fireplaces, and plush seating invites al fresco dinners and late-night cocktails.

Amsterdam

Rosewood continues its European expansion with a new outpost in Amsterdam, housed in the former Palace of Justice along one of the city’s canals. Rosewood Amsterdam’s five houses serve as its most private and spacious suites, offering intimate views of the UNESCO-listed Canal District, residential comforts like deep soaking tubs, a bar, and heated bathroom floors, plus magazine-worthy interiors by Studio Piet Boon.

Huis 020, a ground-floor residence named after Amsterdam’s area code, is the largest of the five, adorned with modern art and neoclassical architectural touches. The butler-serviced suite includes 24-hour in-room dining, complimentary Veloretti bicycles, and a one-way airport transfer. Guests can also unwind at the Asaya Spa, with its heated subterranean pool and relaxing body treatments.

Brussels

With new outposts in Bucharest and Brussels, Corinthia Hotel Group is betting big on under-the-radar European capitals. The company took over the Belgian capital’s Grand Hotel Astoria, a 1909 Beaux-Arts building on Rue Royale, which now offers all the luxuries of a five-star hotel, such as a 13,000 square feet, the largest in Europe’s diplomatic hub, complete with an indoor pool and Sisley Paris-approved treatments, a flower shop, and the stunning Palm Court, boasting 36-foot ceilings and crowned by a stained-glass ceiling.

The hotel’s sixth-floor 3,550-square-foot Grand Gallery penthouse certainly lives up to the hype with two bedrooms, a furnished wrap-around terrace, and its private treatment room and gym. A palette of gold and blue, along with plenty of marble moments, adds to the sumptuous interiors, but doesn’t overwhelm the sleek, timeless furnishings.

Prague

Prague has no shortage of palatial hotels and suites to match its historic grandeur, but Fairmont Golden Prague offers a more modern take. The design nods to the building’s 1974 brutalist roots — a rarity in a city known for elaborate Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance architecture. Many original features, like blown-glass chandeliers and gilded light fixtures, were preserved during the renovation, while the wellness space features an indoor-outdoor pool for year-round dips.

The Presidential Suite, occupying the eighth floor, has all the components of a luxe getaway: dual living areas, a fireplace, walk-in closet, hot tub, and views of the Vltava River. Custom glasswork pays homage to the Czech Republic’s glassmaking traditions dating back to the 13th century. Guests also enjoy Fairmont Gold perks — the brand’s hotel-within-a-hotel concept — including a private reception, concierge service, and a lounge serving breakfast through late-night snacks.

Following its Budapest debut, Marriott added another Central European outpost under the W Hotels umbrella. Taking over the former Grand Hotel Evropa, W Prague kept the Art Nouveau façade (serving serious Wes Anderson vibes) but reimagined the interiors with a more mature, sophisticated spin on W’s signature playful aesthetic. The Presidential Suite (going by the Extreme WOW Suite moniker) features curved walls, floor-to-ceiling windows with views of Prague Castle and the National Museum, a fireplace, and a bar.

Paris

For those unfazed by the $34,900 starting nightly rate, Le Bristol’s new Honeymoon Suite — decorated in bridal white by Narcisa and Elvira Oetker with help from Studio Bjorg — delivers the kind of not-so-quiet luxury art de vivre the hallmark hotel is known for. From the 20-foot mural by Dimitri Rybaltchenko depicting a scene from Greek mythology to a hand-blown glass chandelier and a balcony with rooftop views of Paris (plus a peek at the Eiffel Tower), this 1,776-square-foot suite is the ultimate glamorous home base for a romantic escape.

For travelers craving a more intimate Parisian stay, the Barrière Group just debuted Maison Barrière Vendôme, a 26-key boutique hotel tucked a block from the Tuileries Garden. Its pied-à-terre-style suites brim with handcrafted details. While the Vendôme and Grand apartments may be modest in size (450–550 square feet), they make up for it in charm and luxe touches: think fabrics by Declercq, hand-painted trompe-l’œil walls, and Lalique sconces.

Rome

Rome’s booming hotel scene shows no signs of slowing, but one name seems to be on everyone’s lips this year: Palazzo Talìa, a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Set near Fontana di Trevi and Piazza di Spagna, the hotel still manages to feel like a peaceful hideaway. Most notably, it was designed by “Call Me By Your Name” director Luca Guadagnino, who fused the 16th-century building’s historic charm with modern, stylish touches. Those looking to live it up should book the Talìa Suite, which comes with its own grand hall featuring arched ceilings and frescoes.

Nearby, the freshly renovated Hotel d’Inghilterra still shines as brightly as it did in the days of Elizabeth Taylor and Ernest Hemingway. Its penthouse suite is as much about soaking in the jewel-toned, art-filled interiors — gilded details and all — as it is about enjoying the outdoors, thanks to a 753-square-foot terrace with sun loungers, shaded seating, and cinematic views of the Eternal City.

London

The new Emory Hotel is a showpiece of modern British luxury. Set in high-end Belgravia with Hyde Park at its doorstep, the hotel features a cigar lounge, a private wellness club with an indoor pool, and a rooftop bar. It’s not over-the-top opulent, but rather just impeccably stylish in a James Bond sort of way.

The two-bedroom Penthouse, designed by Rigby & Rigby, spans the entire top floor and offers total privacy with sweeping views over one of London’s most affluent post codes. The suite includes a private fitness room and a dining area for eight.

Not a fan of London traffic? Complimentary helicopter transfers are included with your stay.
