Akshay Kumar To Reunite With Saif Ali Khan After 17 Years In Oppam Remake: Reports

Bollywood superstars Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan are reportedly set to share the screen after a 17-year hiatus in a Hindi remake of the 2016 Malayalam thriller Oppam. Directed by the acclaimed Priyadarshan, the film promises a showdown between the two actors, with Akshay stepping into a villainous role opposite Saif’s lead character. While an official announcement is still pending, the buzz surrounding this reunion has already sparked excitement.

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the remake will showcase a fierce battle between the two stars. A source revealed per News18, “While Saif Ali Khan takes on the lead role, it’s Akshay who will be cast in a menacing avatar. The film is essentially a high-stakes battle between Akshay and Saif, and they’re going to go all out against each other. It’s going to be a gripping and intense watch.”

The original Oppam, starring Mohanlal, was lauded for its suspenseful narrative, and this adaptation is expected to amplify the thrills with Priyadarshan’s signature storytelling flair.

Moreover, a source told Hindustan Times that the next project “is a nail-biting and entertaining thriller film. Helmed by Priyadarshan, it will leave the audiences on the edge of their seats!” The film is slated to begin production in August 2025 and is eyeing a theatrical release in 2026, promising a cinematic experience that will keep viewers hooked.

Currently, Saif Ali Khan is basking in the positive response to his latest release, Jewel Thief, streaming on Netflix. Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is enjoying the success of Kesari Chapter 2, alongside Ananya Panday and R Madhavan.

Akshay is gearing up for Housefull 5, directed by Tarun Mansukhani and boasting a cast including Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Nana Patekar, Kriti Sanon, Fardeen Khan and others. It is scheduled for release on June 6.
