Monique Jeremiah’s side hustle of hot bedding did not emerge as a privileged choice. The 38-year-old Queensland native, who owns a modelling agency named ‘Diversity Models,’ started renting out half of her bed as a side hustle.
The 2017 Miss Power Woman Australia and a reality TV star, Jeremiah began hot bedding to cover her expenses and also save up to start her own startup. The business idea made her nearly $600 a month initially. A sapiosexual, the woman became single during the height of the pandemic in 2020. Her business that catered to international education consultancy and student accommodation went kaput overnight. She also felt dissatisfied by her teaching career, which now went online for all educators worldwide. An out-of-the-box thinker, Jeremiah came up with the idea of hot bedding. Its basically leasing one side of the bed to clients who do not engage in physical relations. She remarked that only those people who have mutual respect for boundaries, space, and values fit the bill for hot bedding.
As a sapiosexual, Jeremiah quipped, she prefers companionship over physical relations. Hot bedding picked up. The entrepreneur’s first client? Her ex! Since her business picked up, the hot-bedding-prenuer raised the rentals.
Reactions poured in with most misogynists slandering the woman, while a handful mocked the clients who had “faaltoo ka paisa” to spend on hot bedding. Referring to a popular meme, a handful of netizens jibed, “ye sab kya dekhna pad raha hai!”
