In an interesting turn of events, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s official Twitter account was hacked and renamed after World richest man ‘Elon Musk’ by hackers on Wednesday. Yes, you heard it right. While the officials tried their best to restore the handle as soon as possible, it took them some time to fix the issue. And within that period, the hackers had flooded the internet with a series of malicious links shared from MIB’s official Twitter handle. “The account @Mib_india has been restored. This is for the information of all the followers,” the ministry tweeted after recovering.

While the ministry did their best and tried to resolve the issue and delete the slurry of wrong tweets from the handle within no time, several Twitter users had taken screenshots of the hacker’s wrongdoings by then. From sharing suggestions on creating a strong password to expressing concern, the internet was flooded with tweets related to the incident. Check out a few reactions here:

While a series of similar incidents have happened in the recent past, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Twitter handle was also hacked for a few minutes last month. But as soon as it was restored, the PMO handle posted a tweet that read, “The Twitter handle of PM @narendramodi was very briefly compromised. The matter was escalated to Twitter and the account has been immediately secured. In the brief period that the account was compromised, any Tweet shared must be ignored.”
