YouTuber Claims Gauri Khan’s Torii Sells ‘Fake Paneer’? Here’s What The Restaurant Has To Say

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s wife Gauri Khan owns a restaurant in Mumbai, named Torii. The restaurant recently made the headlines after a YouTuber Sarthak Sachdeva alleged that they use ‘fake paneer’ in their restaurant. Well, as soon as the video went viral, the restaurant quashed the claims of using adulterated items in their dishes and also issued a clarification.

For those who don’t know, on Wednesday, Sachdeva uploaded a video, where he was seen visiting several celebrity-owned restaurants in Mumbai to check the quality of the paneer they were selling in their restaurants, whether they were using the cheap, impure variety. While Virat Kohli’s One8 Commune, Shilpa Shetty’s Bastian, Bobby Deol’s Someplace Else passed the test, Khan’s Torii failed it. He visited the eateries with a vial of iodine tincture.

After ordering the dishes, he removed the paneer’s upper layer, washed it off all the sauces and spices and then put the iodine drops on it. While others didn’t turn black, Torii’s did, thus failing the test. Quoted by Hindustan Times, he was quoted saying, “Shah Rukh Khan ke restaurant mein paneer nakli tha. Ye dekh ke mere toh hosh udd gaye the.”

As soon as the video went viral on Instagram, Torii immediately took to the comment section of the post to defend itself. They wrote, “The iodine test reflects the presence of starch, not the authenticity of the paneer. As the dish contains soy-based ingredients, this reaction is expected. We stand by the purity of our paneer and the integrity of our ingredients at Torii.” Replying to their comment, Sarthak joked, “So am I banned now? Btw your food is amazing.”

On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan will be next seen in Siddharth Anand directorial King. The project reportedly stars his daughter Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Abhay Verma in pivotal roles. While fans are waiting for an update on the film, the film is expected to release in 2026.
