‘Virat Kohli Ko 100 Ka Nasha Hi Alag Hai’ India Great Left In Awe After Kohli’s 53rd ODI Hundred In 2nd ODI Vs South Africa

Indian cricket found another reason to celebrate in Raipur as Virat Kohli produced yet another masterclass, scoring his 53rd ODI century and his second successive ton against South Africa. After dismantling the Proteas in Ranchi with a blazing 135 off 120 balls, Kohli followed it up with a more mature yet equally dominant 102 off 93 deliveries, marked by seven boundaries and two sixes.

What stood out was not just the numbers, but the ease and authority with which he batted. His judgement while running between the wickets, the way he handled both pace and spin, and his shot selection all carried the familiar stamp of “vintage Kohli”.

Cricketing legends shower praise

The knock triggered widespread admiration across the cricketing fraternity.
Virender Sehwag noted that Kohli seemed to treat centuries almost like routine assignments, highlighting how effortlessly he brings them up while others simply count them in awe. He also applauded Ruturaj Gaikwad’s hundred, calling the youngster’s knock equally impressive.

Irfan Pathan also reacted, stating in essence that while Kohli dazzles on big stages like Sundays, he is just as capable of dismantling bowling plans on regular days, an acknowledgment of Kohli’s unmatched consistency.

Kohli vs South Africa: A different level of domination

Kohli’s metrics against South Africa only reinforce his mastery.
Across 33 ODIs, he has amassed 1,741 runs at a staggering average of nearly 70, along with seven centuries, the most by any batter against the Proteas in ODIs. This latest hundred also marks the 11th time he has produced back-to-back ODI tons, a feat only AB de Villiers has even come close to, and still with far fewer instances.

Even more telling is the consistency: Kohli has now recorded 13 separate stretches of three or more consecutive 50+ ODI scores, the most in history, with Rohit Sharma following behind.

A march toward all-time greatness

This year alone, Kohli’s ODI numbers remain elite: 586 runs in 12 innings at an average above 58, including three centuries. He now sits just 90 runs short of joining the elite 28,000-run club, an exclusive group currently occupied only by Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara.
