Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri Trailer Review: Are You Ready For The Ultimate Cringefest?

One of the most-awaited films of 2025, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri is all set to release in theatres on Decmebr 25. Starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, the movie will see them sharing a screen space yet again after their last film, Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019). On Thursday afternoon, the makers of the movie finally unveiled its trailer, leaving the internet buzzing with excitement. Taking to their official social media handle, they wrote, “An airport meet-cute, a vacation romance and an unexpected layover of love. #TuMeriMainTeraMainTeraTuMeri OFFICIAL TRAILER IS OUT NOW! ✈️❤️ In cinemas on 25th December.”

The three-minute 21-second trailer starts with Kartik’s character Ray expressing how he believes in living in the moment, as we see snippets of him and Ananya’s character Rumi getting intimate with each other. As he introduces himself and her, we get to know that he is based in Los Angeles (LA) and Rumi is a best-selling author. As they talk while sitting in the plane, they realise they are going to the same Yatch Week, much to Rumi’s chagrin since she finds Ray annoying. And thus begins the moments where he is seen annoying her constantly, which leaves her frustrated.

As they start opening up to each other, like a typical rom-com does, the trailer takes a turn, i don’t know if its for the better or worse, and the leads are transported to a wedding setting where Ray expresses how a woman has to sacrifice her entire past, present, and future after marriage. With an emotional dialogue about how “if a man can’t sacrifice for the woman he loves then he is not man enough”, it leaves one confused on what the trailer wants to be, a simple rom-com, a heart-wrenching reality about the oppression of woman after marriage, or a family drama.

Frankly, I’ve nothing against the plot of the film, but from the bottom of my heart I believe that a trailer of a film shouldn’t reveal much. The suspense of it all should keep the fans intrigued as they go watch it in theatres. The three-minute trailer has shown us what the entire film will be about. If the makers would’ve stopped at the two minute mark, with Ray ending it with his “decided to say I love you to the only woman in life” dialogue, it would have been fine.

The second half of the trailer remaining a plot twist they never saw coming. Knowing how sensitive such topics are, they need to be treated as such so that it has a long-lasting impact on the audience and makes them think about it. It is to be noted that these are just my assumptions about the plot, from what I’ve seen in the trailer and know how these films pan out. I’m waiting for the movie to prove me wrong or show me something which is beyond my predictability.

All in all, for me the trailer was a bit over-bearing. A compilation of music-videos, cringey dialogues, lack-luster chemistry between the leads, and the jarring shift in genres shown in the trailer, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri doesn’t seem like it has something new to offer, something which will become iconic or be remembered by the cinephile for generations to come. This might just be yet another forgetful film Bollywood has to offer.

Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri is a romantic-comedy produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Namah Pictures. Slated to release on February 13, 2026, the film co-starring Ananya Panday and Kartik Aaryan will be directed by Sameer Vidhwans. The movie marks the latter’s second collaboration with his Satyaprem Ki Katha director and first collaboration with Johar after their alleged fallout during the Dostana 2 shoot.
