“The White Lotus” fans, do we have good news for you: The next season of the jet setting, dysfunctional-family-and-friends whodunnit has a new location for its upcoming fourth season.
First hinted at by Deadline, the Hollywood insider publication, and confirmed by HBO last month, this new destination is sure to attract attention from clients.
Where is the new season taking place
The White Lotus Season Four’s big reveal is…drumroll please…..France!
The news has slowly been rolling out since the Emmys on September 14. First, Parker Posey, the show’s season three breakout star, let it slip to E! News on the red carpet that “The White Lotus” showrunner Mike White wasn’t at this year’s awards. Instead, he was scouting locations in France, she said. She didn’t know, though, if her lorazepam-dependent Victoria Ratliff would be visiting.
Soon after, HBO CEO Casey Bloys confirmed that the land of crepes, baguettes and lovers’ trysts will officially be season four’s setting.
And while neither Bloys or White have commented on where in France “The White Lotus” season four will be filmed, we (along with the rest of the internet) have some ideas.
Where in France will be the home of the White Lotus Hotel?
There’s no official word yet on which town or hotel will become “Le Lotus Blanc.” However, since the show has a marketing agreement with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, and the hotel group has several properties in France, we have some guesses on where filming might take place.
There are three Four Seasons properties in France:
- First up, the Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris, whose new suites are an LTA favorite. The city setting could be intriguing (but also maybe too ”Emily in Paris” coded?). It could also be a secondary filming location, like Bangkok was in season three.
- Next up, the Four Seasons Megeve, which scales the peak of luxury heights in the French Alps. The apres ski vibes would be stellar, and we can picture the gorgeous mountain scenery as well as the multiple opportunities for guests to meet a grisly end off a rocky cliff. Also, White shared in an HBO Max video in April, that “For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the ‘crashing waves against rocks’ vernacular.” (For what it’s worth though, Deadline is reporting that White doesn’t like the cold.)
- Finally, we have the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, A Four Seasons Hotel, an iconic Mediterranean resort on the French Riviera. Warm weather and palm trees have figured heavily in all three past seasons. But is the Riviera too similar to season two’s Sicily setting?
Why it matters to luxury advisors
The booking bump from travelers drawn in by the allure of luxurious resorts and exotic locations from “The White Lotus” has proven to be a boon to luxury travel advisors.
Interest in the destinations the show has filmed in, and the properties used, have surged after viewers watched the series (yes, even though at least one person — and often more — don’t survive their resort visit.) Virtuoso calls this trend “Reel Roaming,” or set-jetting. Following the release of season two in October 2022, Virtuoso data revealed a 424% surge in travel bookings to Sicily. Likewise, luxury travel to Thailand, where Season Three was filmed, saw a strong start in 2025, with bookings from U.S. travelers up by 41% and sales continuing to climb.
Research from GetYourGuide also supports this, with 75% of fans saying “The White Lotus” has influenced their travel more than any other show. So far, 31% have already visited Hawaii, Italy or Thailand because of this influence, while 68% plan to visit these iconic filming locations.
France should fare similarly well.
Where “The White Lotus” has filmed previously
First, there was Maui, Hawaii, for the debut season, with the Four Seasons Resort Maui in Wailea standing in for the beach-front White Lotus Hotel. That season was so popular the resort now offers a behind-the-scenes tour.
Season two brought intrigue and memorable scenes all around Sicily and the Southern Italian Coast with San Domenico Palace, Taormina, a Four Seasons Hotel, playing the White Lotus’ Italy location.
Season three, which aired this year, brought viewers along to Thailand, including resorts and hotels in Phuket and Bangkok. This time, the Four Seasons Koh Samui was joined by multiple additional properties where scenes were filmed, including the Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok; Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort; Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas; and Rosewood Phuket.
Based on the latter, we’re expecting multiple hotels to be involved in the France season, too.
So advisors, where in France do you think White Lotus Season Four will be set? And what other resorts and luxury properties would be a perfect fit for saying “Bon Voyage” to the messy guests at the White Lotus?
