James Gunn dropped the first trailer for the 2026 DCU flick ‘Supergirl,’ featuring House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El.
The fiery trailer portrays a mostly hungover 23-year-old metahuman drunk on superpowers with no filters whatsoever. She is drunk. She is sleep-deprived. And she looks super pissed. A flashback recalls the day their home planet Krypton was obliterated, with only her cousin Kal-El, aka Superman, escaping the fate. The teaser follows more montages of hacking and slashing and wry humor, with superdog Krypto tagging along with Supergirl.
Aquaman in the former DCU franchise, Jason Momoa pops up as anti-hero Lobo for a change. Milly Alcock reprises her role as Supergirl after first being teased in Superman (2025).
He (Superman) sees the good in everyone. And I see the truth.

Supergirl was created by Otto Binder and designed by Al Plastino for DC Comics as the biological cousin of Superman. Killed in the 1985 Crisis on Infinite Earths event, Supergirl was reintroduced in 2004. In the comics she has partnered with Batgirl and Wondergirl, among other superheroes. Whether James Gunn brings them all in the DCU remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, anti-hero Lobo, a Czarnian, made his first DC Comics appearance in 1983.
