Decked in a beautiful red saree, her hair tied in the iconic Stree chotti, Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor on Friday evening launched the trailer of Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Thama. Alongside the makers of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU), during the event, she also announced a standalone animated film Choti Stree, inspired by her character from the hit franchise.
As per the announcement, the movie will be released six months before Stree 3 and will not only showcase her character’s backstory but also be a segway to the next film. Speaking at the event, about the same, she added how the movie will be a fun watch for all age groups.

Quoted by News18, she added, “The Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU) is coming out with Choti Stree as an animated film, which will be released in theatres. So it’s going to be total fun for everyone — kids and families alike. I think it’s a very exciting time for India, and it feels amazing to be a part of this universe.”

Shedding light on the upcoming project, producer Dinesh Vijan said that the director Amar Kaushik and screenwriter Niren Bhatt have planned to end the movie with live-action footage from Stree 3. He said that the movie will also “answer all your questions about Stree’s backstory.” Six months after the release of Choti Stree, Stree 3 will be released, he announced.
During the event, the actress and producer also unveiled the official logo of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU). The universe started with Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s Stree, then went on to include Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya, Sharvari and Abhay Verma’s Munjya, and now Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thama. Earlier in the year, the makers had announced an entire lineup of the universe, going till the year 2028.
