Saif Ali Khan ‘Hated’ Himself On The First Day Of Jewel Thief’s Shoot: ‘Was Nervous, Tired, Lost’

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has returned with yet another action thriller heist film, Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins. Premiered on Netflix, on April 25, the movie left the critics as well as the fans disappointed at the stereotypical storyline and at par acting. For the promotions of the film, actors Saif Ali Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat and producer Siddharth Anand appeared on IMDb and opened up about their experience of shooting for the film. They even shared behind-the-scenes anecdotes from the sets.

Recalling the first day of the film’s shoot, Khan shared that they were shooting late at night, having started at 1 AM, the shoot went on till 5 AM, when the light came up. That was the first time he had met Jaideep. Quoted by News18, he added, “As usual, I hated myself because it was the first day. Sometimes, to be honest, I don’t know what I’m doing. It takes a while to get used to it, I was a little nervous. A little tired. A little lost.”

He went on to share that, that day he was shooting with Jaideep’s dog in the film, a massive rottweiler. Siaf shared that the owner of the dog told him, “you can do whatever you want with it.” He revealed that he played with the dog, fed it biscuits, however when he pulled it slightly, it growled at him in “the most ferocious way.” It was then that the owner warned him, “you can do what you want, but don’t pull it.”

The actors went on to share what surprised them about each other, as it is their first collaboration. The Pataal Lok actor said, “I’m surprised just working with him (Saif). I’ve done something good that I’m working with him, that’s a surprise for me also.”

On the other hand, the 54-year-old actor said, “I was surprised by how thin he was. The last time I saw him as Hathiram (Ahlawat’s character in Paatal Lok), he was looking quite solid. Here he was lean, mean, badass, very sexy, giving young Sanjay Dutt vibes to me. The other thing, I shouldn’t have been surprised, but I was, was the commitment to the reality of the shots.”

For those who don’t know, Siddharth Anand, who will be directing Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan starrer King, has produced Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins. Directed by Kookie Gulati and Robbie Grewal, the Saif Ali Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat, Nikita Dutta, and Kunal Kapoor starrer premiered on Netflix on April 25, 2025. The film revolves around a Jewel Thief, who is hired by a powerful crime lord to steal an elusive diamond, The African Red Sun.
