The new year has kicked off with a packed smartphone launch calendar, and January 2026 is already shaping up to be busy. Redmi and Realme are set to begin the season with the launch of the Redmi Note 15 5G and the Realme 16 Pro series, both scheduled to debut on January 6. As anticipation builds, these launches are expected to set the tone for the first wave of smartphones in 2026.

After a gap of more than a year, Redmi is set to refresh its popular Note lineup with the launch of the Redmi Note 15 5G in India. The phone focuses heavily on slim aesthetics, measuring just 7.35mm in thickness, and features a curved 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Its rear design is highlighted by a large circular camera module, similar to the Redmi Note 14 Pro.

In terms of performance and imaging, the Redmi Note 15 5G packs a 108-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilisation, which the company calls the “Masterpixel Edition.” It is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset and houses a 5,520mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging. While official pricing is yet to be revealed, leaks suggest the device could be priced under Rs 25,000.

Alongside the Note 15 5G, Redmi will also introduce the Pad 2 Pro 5G in India. The tablet is expected to offer a QHD+ display, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support, and run on the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor. It will be backed by a large 12,000mAh battery, positioning it as a premium multimedia-focused tablet.
On the same day, Realme will unveil the Realme 16 Pro series, which includes the Realme 16 Pro and Realme 16 Pro Plus. Both phones emphasise camera capabilities, featuring a 200-megapixel primary sensor, with the Pro Plus adding a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens. The Pro Plus will be powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, while the Pro uses a MediaTek Dimensity 7000-series chip. Both devices pack massive 7,000mAh silicon-carbon batteries with 80W fast charging. Realme will also launch the Realme Pad 3, featuring a 2.8K display, a 12,200mAh battery, and upcoming AI features.
