Thursday left the internet buzzing with excitement as Nitesh Tiwari’s much-anticipated directorial Ramayana’s first look was released by the makers. Introducing Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Yash as Ravana, the title card announcement took social media by storm with netizens sharing their mixed reactions about it. While the three-minute, three-second video featured powerful glimpses of both actors, it also announced the rest of the cast – Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman.
Ever since the release of the announcement, a section of the internet has been discussing who would’ve been a better choice, especially for the character of Ram. In the midst of it all, media publication Hindustan Times took the help of AI and asked ChatGPT to suggest an alternative cast for the adaptation of Ramayana. Sharing its “carefully considered list of strong choices for each character,” the media publication shared the following findings.
Ram Charan/Hrithik Roshan As Lord Ram
Since the actor who plays the role of Lord Ram needs “grace, moral authority, restrained strength, and divine serenity,” the chatbot, as reported by the media publication, mentioned Ram Charan and Hrithik Roshan as its top suggestions. Quoted by HT, ChatGPT stated, “Especially after RRR, he embodies discipline and strength with spiritual undertones. Also, the name fits symbolically.” As for the War 2 actor, the AI bot mentioned him as a “regal presence, calm strength, and has a divine aura when in stoic roles.” Other names suggested included actors like Vicky Kaushal and Dev Patel.
Mrunal Thakur As Sita
According to the media publication, ChatGPT stated that Thakur would be apt for the role of Sita, apart from Sai Pallavi, as she is “graceful, emotionally resonant, and capable of portraying layered vulnerability and strength.” Other possible actresses are Deepika Padukone, Triptii Dimri, and Aditi Rao Hydari.

Ranveer Singh/Fahadh Faasil As Ravana
The media publication reports that, as per ChatGPT, the actors suitable to essay the role of Lanka’s almighty ruler Ravana are Ranveer Singh and Fahadh Faasil, since the actors need traits like “charisma, power, and tragic complexity.” Other suggestions included names like R Madhavan and Chiyaan Vikram.
Touted as director Nitesh Tiwari’s most ambitious mythological adaptation, Oscar-winning legends Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman have joined forces for the film to create a new cinematic symphony. Produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios and 8-time Oscar-winning VFX studio DNEG in association with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations; Ramayana is being filmed for IMAX and will release worldwide: Part 1 in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027.
