The official trailer of The Bluff has been unveiled, instantly drawing attention to Priyanka Chopra in one of her most ferocious on-screen avatars to date. Released by Prime Video on its YouTube channel, the two-minute-plus preview offers a gritty glimpse into a violent, survival-driven narrative set against a pirate-ruled world.
The trailer introduces Priyanka as a hardened woman on the run, fiercely determined to protect her daughter from a relentless group of pursuers led by Karl Urban. What follows is a series of brutal confrontations where Priyanka’s character relies on instinct and raw strength, engaging in hand-to-hand combat and wielding weapons ranging from knives and stones to a sword. The visuals are dark and grounded, highlighting physical struggle over spectacle, with action scenes designed to feel visceral rather than stylised.
Priyanka appears in a rugged, stripped-down look, stepping into the role of a former pirate whose buried past resurfaces with devastating consequences. Referred to as “Bloody Mary” in the trailer, her character is portrayed as ruthless yet deeply protective, driven by survival and maternal instinct. The narrative hints at emotional conflict alongside physical danger, suggesting that the film balances action with character-led drama.
The response from fans has been overwhelmingly positive. Viewers praised Priyanka’s commanding screen presence and physical transformation, with many noting that her performance stands out even in a cast featuring seasoned international actors. Social media reactions applauded the intensity of her action sequences and celebrated what fans see as a long-overdue opportunity for the actor to headline a major Western action film. Several comments highlighted her dominance in the trailer, calling her powerful, fearless and magnetic on screen.
Beyond its lead performances, The Bluff boasts an impressive creative lineup. The film also stars Temuera Morrison in a pivotal role. It is directed by Frank E Flowers, who co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Ballarini. The project is backed by Amazon MGM Studios and produced by the Russo Brothers under their AGBO banner.
Priyanka has previously shared that The Bluff aims to present pirates in a more historically grounded manner, moving away from glossy fictional portrayals. Drawing inspiration from real figures such as Irish pirate Grace O’Malley, the film explores piracy in the 1700s through a grittier lens. Although shot in Australia, the story is set in the Cayman Islands, a historically diverse crossroads used by pirates between voyages.
The Bluff is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on February 25, setting the stage for what could be one of Priyanka Chopra’s most defining global releases yet.
