All eyes will be on the fitness of Hardik Pandya, who is set to captain the Gujarat Titans team as the new franchise debuts in the Indian Premier League 2022. Due to a lower back injury, the star Indian all-rounder is yet to play any competitive match post the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE which got over in November 2021. According to Gujarat Titans’ spin bowling coach Aashish Kapoor, Pandya has begun practice and even started to bowl in the nets.

“Last two months I have been in Bahrain, I was coaching the National team over there. So, Nehra has been in constant touch with him from the time we have retained him and Nehra has been talking to him. He has also spoken about how to arrange and where to arrange practice sessions for him and get those things done,” Gujarat Titans’ spin bowling coach Aashish Kapoor told ANI.

“Asking him to play a few Ranji Trophy games before he turns up for a camp which may be in March with some point in March may be in Mid-March. So, he has been also starting to bowl that’s what he has told Nehra. He has started to bowl, he is bowling well and batting he has no problems in any case because mainly we want to know whether he can bowl for us like how in the Indian team.”

Promoted

“So, if he can bowl and bat both it is an added advantage because there are not too many all-rounders in India (medium pace all-rounders). He is the only one that you can think of at the moment so if you have that all-rounder with you then I think you are on the plus side,” Kapoor said.

Pandya did not bowl much in IPL 2021 for Mumbai and he even did not bowl much for India in ICC T20 World Cup 2021 due to injury. Pandya’s contribution to his franchise as both batter and bowler will give his team management more options and certainly will add variety to the bowling attack.

[ad_1]

SAN FRANCISCO – Ignite! Reading, a rapidly growing provider of virtual tutoring services that enable K-12 schools to dramatically accelerate student reading progress, closed a $10 Million Series A round of financing, led by Rethink Education. Citadel Founder and CEO Ken Griffin and founding or current partners from Comcast Ventures, Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation, Hellman & Friedman and Wing Venture Capital also participated in the financing as individual investors. The funding will be used to add more world-class professionals to Ignite’s leadership team, invest in its technology platform, and enable the company to scale its program to meet accelerating demand from schools and districts nationwide.

Ignite is helping K-12 schools reverse pandemic-related learning losses by providing struggling readers with 15 minutes a day of one-on-one virtual instruction by tutors trained in the Science of Reading. Ignite’s easy-to-implement program teaches foundational reading skills, and students recorded an average of 2.4 weeks of reading progress for every week in the program during the 2021-2022 school year. The company is now teaching students to read in over 35 schools across seven states with no achievement gap for students of color, students with IEPs, multilingual learners or students receiving free or reduced-price lunches.

“With students learning to read at twice the rate that would be expected in a traditional classroom setting, Ignite! Reading’s one-on-one, high-dosage tutoring model is not just transforming how kids are taught to read, but how literacy instruction is being operationalized in schools. Teachers love the academic results Ignite is delivering and are equally excited by the significant positive impact on students’ social emotional learning,” said Jessica Reid Sliwerski, Co-Founder and CEO of Ignite! Reading.

“Ignite! Reading is the real deal. Laser-focused on making sure every child has the foundational skills to read on time, Ignite is an extraordinary tech-forward tutoring program that consistently over-delivers on expectations,” said Matt Greenfield, Managing Partner of Rethink Education.

“By leveraging technology, data-driven instruction and individualized 1:1 tutoring, Ignite is making it easy for schools to implement the Science of Reading-based literacy instruction states now require to address the fact that 67% of fourth graders cannot read at grade level,” said Evan Marwell, Co-Founder of Ignite! Reading. “Schools love that Ignite enables them to immediately shore up students’ foundational reading skills gaps without waiting for the lengthy change management process needed to retrain teachers and switch curriculum. This latest financing round will position Ignite to supercharge reading progress for the next generation of learners.”

Thailand’s land border trade flourishing; up 30.3% in 2021

[ad_1]

Thailand-Cambodia cross-border trade in 2021 expanded by 16.63 per cent to hit ?144.9 billion despite the borders being closed for a significant duration. Thailand’s total trade of ?1.71 trillion in 2021 represented a rise of 30.03 per cent, with exports rising by 34.6 per cent to ?1.03 trillion and imports up by 23.7 per cent to ?684 billion, said commerce minister Jurin Laksanawisit.

Thailand’s overall cross border trade grew by 30 per cent last year compared to the previous year, the commerce ministry said, while setting a target of 5-7 per cent growth for this year.

The 2021 cross-border trade has overwhelmingly exceeded the ministry’s target of 6 per cent expansion by five times, he pointed out.

Thailand-Cambodia cross-border trade in 2021 expanded by 16.63 per cent to hit ฿144.9 billion despite the borders being closed for a significant duration. Thailand’s total trade of ฿1.71 trillion in 2021 represented a rise of 30.03 per cent, with exports rising by 34.6 per cent to ฿1.03 trillion and imports up by 23.7 per cent to ฿684 billion.

“This year we estimate the trade volume will continue to grow within the range of 5 to 7 per cent year on year. Exports are expected to amount to 1.08 trillion to 1.1 trillion baht,” Jurin was quoted as saying by Thai media reports.

He said the factors that would contribute to an expansion in cross-border trade in 2022 include the continued recovery of global and regional economies from the impact of Covid-19, the weakening baht that would increase product price competitiveness and the use of the newly opened China-Laos railway that would greatly help in transportation of farm products from Thailand to Vientiane and Chongqing – two of the biggest markets for agricultural products.

Thailand-Laos cross-border trade was worth ?417.73 billion in 2021, increasing by 39.31 per cent year on year; that with Malaysia, it was worth ?346.6 billion, increasing by 42.6 per cent; with Myanmar, it was worth ?122.08 billion, increasing by 109.24 per cent; with China, it was ?194.82 billion, increasing by 59.71 per cent; with Singapore, it was ?53.85 billion, increasing by 51.49 per cent; with Vietnam, it was ?46.3 billion, increasing by 5.03 per cent.

‘Doctor Strange 2’ Trailer Teases Huge X-Men Cameo; Here’s What Marvel Fans Think

0

[ad_1]

The full trailer of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness dropped during the 2022 Super Bowl. And it has opened up a bunch of mind-bending questions. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen and more, the Sam Raimi directorial is all set to venture right into the multiverse. Between “Sinister Strange”, evil Wanda and a huge cameo hint that fans think is connected to an X-Men crossover, there is a lot to dissect.

The second trailer of Doctor Strange 2 gives us a glimpse into the sorcerer’s greatest, most mysterious adventure yet. It opens with a nightmare and a montage of utter mayhem till Stephen Strange wakes up to his own nightmare. He must now confront the fall-out from the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. We later see him handcuffed in a futuristic setting where a voice can be heard saying, “We should tell him the truth,” and it sounds a lot like Patrick Stewart. Marvel nerds, it’s happening, Professor Charles Xavier could be returning to the MCU hopefully, along with 20th Century Fox’s X-Men. Apart from teasing the huge possible crossover, the footage also gives us a look at Wanda’s dark counterpart, the evil variant of Doctor Strange that resembles the one we saw in What If…? and a curious glowing figure. The trailer ends with a deeply disturbing shot of a variant that looks like a zombie.

Check out the trailer that has sparked multiple fan theories within hours of its arrival:

Did Marvel just confirm Professor X’s comeback? There’s no telling since we did not get a clear shot of Patrick Stewart in the trailer. But fans of the X-Men movies from the ‘00s will recognise this voice instantly. It’s unmistakable.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the next best Marvel film since Spider-Man: No Way Home. It’s also the next outing for Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch since Disney Plus’ WandaVision. The show also saw a cameo of X-Men star Evan Peters who plays Wanda’s brother Pietro. Looks like it’s all coming together.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will release on May 6, 2022.

3 tactics to center educator wellness

0

[ad_1]

I’m currently a 4th grade teacher at an elementary school in North Carolina, a Post Master’s student at the University of North Carolina – Greensboro, and a Science partner with Next Generation Academy. I have been in the profession for nearly two decades. So much has changed over the years: from overhead projectors to online collaborative tools–not to mention the internet as a teaching resource, district leadership, teaching standards… the list goes on.

But one lesson that’s grown more important as the years pass is the importance of wellness. The pandemic has shown, clearly, the impact wellness has on students: the U.S. Attorney General recently reported a 40 percent increase in student sadness or hopelessness while Mental Health America shared that 2.5 million kids live with severe depression.

While we correctly center students in the education conversation, we also need to discuss educator wellness. The 2021-22 school year is notable in that it’s marked by a  shocking staff shortage that continues to grow. One reason most likely is the extreme measures that teachers take to ensure students get a great education (think stuff like giving up lunch time, planning periods, and days off, professional development on their own time). This means 48 percent of teachers think of quitting, and that number could be growing.

Creating a successful and lasting educational impact on students needs to involve a teacher’s wellbeing. Here are three tactics I’ve found to be successful in centering educator wellness:

  1. Infuse SEL into the classroom.

Beginning to incorporate social emotional learning strategies into your instruction and school day can seem overwhelming, I know it was for me at first. A resource that’s been helpful for me and my colleagues (and one in which I had the honor of partaking) is the Master Class Series from the Social Emotional Learning Coalition.

Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange’ Continuity Goof-Up Has Got Fans Talking

[ad_1]

Marvel Studios’ next big film that needs to be under the spotlight after the release of ‘SpiderMan: No Way Home’ is ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’. Everyone got a glimpse of the dark adventure that awaits Benedict Cumberbatch’s sorcerer from the first trailer of this movie. There are a plethora of rumours that increase the excitement about this upcoming film. However, most of the rumours keep the focus on the fun appearances and the cameos such as the cast of Loki and the old members of ‘The Fantastic Four’.

The hype that has been created around led the fans to go back and watch the ‘Doctor Strange’ movie that was released in 2016. It has been six years since the character has been out of action. Now the attention has been turned back to the first adventure and the fans have noticed a big mistake in the final act of the movie.

Mads Mikklesen is seen conjuring a portal in Hong Kong in the final act of the movie. A reddit user named u/AwkwardPotato69 noticed a big continuity problem during the scene. A car is seen driving through the streets of Hong Kong where Kaecilius and his crew enter through the portal. Right after the bad guys step through, the car vanishes and according to the rules established in the MCU so far, the car should have gone inside the portal and it should have knocked the wannabe world-enders. The car stays out of the scene when the portal closes.

It is strange that it took such a long time to figure out a big continuity problem like this and it is difficult to say whether it is good or bad. The car and the driver could end up being amongst the most significant cameos in Doctor Strange.

Marvel Studios’ ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ is set to be released on 6th May.
