Castle Hill Inn, the iconic Newport, Rhode Island coastal retreat, is welcoming overnight guests back to its grounds following a fire this winter that temporarily shuttered parts of the property. The phased reopening marks a meaningful return for one of New England’s most beloved luxury destinations, and the timing couldn’t be more spectacular…or golden-hued.
Spring at Castle Hill means 70,000 daffodils — yes, 70,000 — carpeting the grounds of Newport’s most coveted coastal perch. And this year, overnight guests get to enjoy it all to themselves. For the first time in the property’s history, the phased reopening means registered overnight guests will have exclusive run of the property until Memorial Day Weekend. That includes the legendary adirondack-lined lawn overlooking the water and a perfect fit for cocktail sipping, life chats, and pretending you live like this all the time. Beach Houses and Beach Cottages reopened as of March 5.
Through the spring, the Chalet is serving as the operational hub of the inn, handling check-in, breakfast, afternoon tea, evening light bites and cocktails, room service, and access to The Retreat at Castle Hill by Farmaesthetics, which has temporarily relocated. Private car transfers to downtown Newport dining remain available for guests who can tear themselves away from those views.
The ground floor lobby of the Agassiz Mansion — including its kitchen, dining, and bar spaces — is expected to be fully operational by Memorial Day Weekend, bringing back The Lawn Terrace and Aurelia at Castle Hill, which earned a Forbes Five Star Award this past February.
The six guest rooms within the Mansion, including the Turret and Lighthouse Suites, are on a longer return timeline, with a return to service slated for early 2027. In the meantime, 26 accommodations across the rest of the property remain open throughout the season, with good availability this spring and summer for advisors looking to place clients.
