Supra, who is reportedly in the midst of a separation from his wife, had switched off his mobile phone after sending the threatening message, which claimed that 14 Pakistani terrorists, affiliated with a group called “Lashkar-e-Jihadi,” had infiltrated Mumbai with 400 kilograms of RDX planted in 34 vehicles.
The threat, timed just before the Anant Chaturdashi immersion on September 6 heightened concerns as the city was already on high alert for the massive Ganesh festival crowds. A second individual, arrested from Sorakha village, was allegedly involved in providing the SIM card used to send the message to the Mumbai Traffic Police’s WhatsApp helpline.
Both suspects were handed over to the Mumbai Police for further questioning. A case has been registered at Worli police station under Section 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with sub-sections 2, 3, and 4, against an unidentified person, though investigations now focus on Supra and his accomplice.
