Marriott Adds Maui’s Kapalua Bay to St. Regis Portfolio


Marriott International has struck an agreement with Kemmons Wilson Hospitality Partners to add The Resort at Kapalua Bay to its growing luxury stable, and the jewel of Maui’s northwest coast is poised to carry the St. Regis flag by 2027.

Marriott has already assumed management of the oceanfront property, welcoming guests throughout the conversion period. A planned renovation will precede the resort’s formal entry into the St. Regis Hotels & Resorts portfolio, one of the most storied names in luxury hospitality.

Perched on approximately 25 oceanfront acres within the broader Kapalua Resort community, The Resort at Kapalua Bay offers 146 multi-bedroom residences ranging from 1,774 to more than 4,050 square feet — each with sweeping ocean views and the kind of residential-scale privacy that today’s luxury traveler increasingly demands.

Amenities include a 40,000-square-foot spa with 19 treatment rooms, championship golf and tennis, direct beach access to the celebrated Kapalua Bay, a cascading lagoon pool, and more than 33,000 square feet of combined meeting and event space.

“Kapalua Bay is one of the most iconic leisure destinations in the world, and this agreement reflects our continued momentum in growing a best-in-class luxury resort portfolio that resonates with today’s discerning luxury traveler,” Dana Jacobsohn, Marriott International’s Chief Development Officer of Global Mixed Use and Luxury for North America, said in prepared remarks.

Asset management firm White Label Asset Management is spearheading the repositioning effort alongside Marriott and KWHP.

“This is one of the truly great resorts in the world, with an iconic setting, extraordinary grounds, and some of the most spacious accommodations in luxury hospitality,” added Jonathon Vopinek, CEO and president of White Label Asset Management. “We look forward to this exciting new chapter and to delivering an exceptional luxury resort experience for locals and travelers alike.”

The agreement further cements Marriott’s commanding presence across the Hawaiian Islands, where the company currently operates approximately 30 properties with six more in the pipeline.
