Konkona Sen Sharma Supports Deepika’s 8-Hour Shift Demand: ‘We Aren’t Dealing With Life-And-Death Situations’

National Award-winning actress Konkona Sen Sharma never shies away from expressing her opinions. Having taken the industry by storm, Deepika Padukone’s eight-hour work shift demand has been a topic of discussion for many to share their views on. Amidst her recent interview, where she stood firm on her demand, expressing how, when top male actors do it, it’s never questioned, Sharma has extended her support by stating that Bollywood needs regulated working hours.

During an interaction with News18 Showsha, she revealed that while exceptions once in a while shouldn’t be minded by people, it is important for the industry to have a system. She maintained that there should be “humane working hours across the industry.”

Quoted by the media publication, she added, “We are not neurosurgeons dealing with life-and-death situations. Of course, one has to take care that the people financing the project do recover their money because that’s important, and it is equally important that we remember we are working with human beings who need something called ‘bio breaks’.”

Konkona revealed that actors need breaks from time to time. She said, “We do make exceptions occasionally, like when we have a 12-hour shift that often gets stretched to 14–15 hours. But I do think there should be more regulated working hours and at least one day off weekly; it would be more productive as well.”
