The month-over-month change in WPI for the month of September 2023 stood at -0.59 per cent as compared to August 2023.
India’s Wholesale Price Index (WPI)-based inflation rate fell to -0.26 per cent in September 2023, a slight improvement from -0.52 per cent in August 2023.
The month-over-month WPI change for September stood at -0.59 per cent.
The deflation was attributed mainly to falling prices in sectors such as chemicals, textiles, and food products.

The official WPI for all commodities (Base: 2011-12 = 100) for the month of September 2023 decreased to 151.5 from previous month’s 152.4.
The index for manufactured products (weight 64.2 per cent) for September 2023 reached 140.3 from 139.8 in August. The index for ‘Manufacture of Textiles’ sub-group was recorded at 134.2, while the index for ‘Manufacture of Wearing Apparel’ was at 150.6.
