Nvidia’s co-founder and CEO Jensen Huang during a fireside chat with Stripe co-founder and CEO Patrick Collison spoke about sundry things including work life balance. The billionaire stated
My work life balance is really great. I work as much as I can.”
He added,
I work from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to bed and I work seven days a week. When I am not working, I am thinking about working and when I am working I am working.”
“…and so I sit through movies but I don’t remember because I am thinking about work.” Huang continued.
Jensen Huang, who famously doesn’t wear a watch to focus on the present moment, has a net worth of $151.4 billion and is ranked 9th on the Bloomberg Billionaire’s Index. Meanwhile Nvidia’s market cap currently is $4.2 trillion, and is thereby the world’s most valued company. The company has witnessed a 1,600% surge in stock prices in the last five years. This comes with the AI gold rush where Nvidia is selling shovels aka GPUs to all competing companies including OpenAI, Google, xAI, Meta, and others.
During his talk with the Stripe boss, Jensen quipped
I want to turn Nvidia into a giant AI. How great would that be?
He further added
And then I’ll have work-life balance.”

Leading Nvidia to greatness has meant that work-life balance has had to take a major backseat for CEO Jensen Huang; in fact, for Huang, every waking moment is dedicated to work. https://t.co/xi8bHXvxce pic.twitter.com/UxwaJSd9CU— Fortune 500 (@Fortune500) July 22, 2025
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang might be the hardest-working executive in the world. As the boss of the most valuable company in the world, he works nearly every hour of the day, seven days a week. https://t.co/t16kpOf7DR— FORTUNE (@FortuneMagazine) July 21, 2025
Reactions poured in with netizens slamming the work ethics of the billionaire, while a handful applauded his entrepreneurial grit and grind that made Nvidia a name to reckon with. One user remarked, “Lmao. Win what? He’s gonna just croak like the rest of us.” Another user jibed, “You can win without that. You just have to redefine win. Choose your sacrifice.” “Ants be like,” quipped one.
