What seems like a routine morning habit for millions of Indians hides a disturbing reality, trust in everyday essentials can be easily exploited. In Kanjhawala, a grimy unit was allegedly manufacturing fake Sensodyne, quietly filling tubes with questionable chemicals and distributing them to local shops. The operation highlights how counterfeit products can infiltrate daily life, putting unsuspecting consumers at risk.

The counterfeit toothpaste looked almost identical to the real thing, complete with proper Sensodyne branding. However, inside the tubes were cheap chemicals, including bleaching agents and locally sourced fluoride mixtures, packed in what police described as extremely unhygienic conditions, raising serious health concerns for consumers.

Acting on a tip-off, Delhi Police raided the unit in Northwest Delhi and arrested a 58-year-old man from Rohini while detaining six workers. The operation uncovered a fully functional setup equipped with tube-filling machines, sealing tools, and large drums of chemicals, all being used to manufacture fake toothpaste in a residential area.
The scale of the operation was massive, with authorities seizing over 13,000 tubes bearing the Sensodyne label. This included 2,100 filled tubes ready for sale, more than 10,000 empty branded tubes, cartons for dispatch, and multiple drums of raw chemical mixtures used in production.
Police confirmed that the accused had no valid licenses or authorisations and was sourcing cheap ingredients locally before packaging and distributing them across markets in Rohini and other parts of Delhi. What makes the case particularly alarming is that these fake products were being sold through regular retail channels, making them nearly impossible for everyday buyers to distinguish from genuine ones.
