‘Cheapest Song Of My Life Is Sheila Ki Jawani’: Farah Khan Recalls Shooting It In Three And A Half Shifts

Bollywood filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan is currently busy running her YouTube channel, where she as well as her cook Dilip often visit celebrities’ houses to gorge on their delicious, signature food and share their life experiences. In a recent vlog, she opened up about her iconic hit song Sheila Ki Jawani, starring Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar, from the film Tees Maar Khan (2010).

Having choreographed many other iconic songs like Pehla Nasha, Chaiyya Chaiyya, Ruk Ja O Dil Deewane, among many others, she revealed that Sheila Ki Jawani was the “cheapest song” she had ever made as they didn’t even have a set for it. She opened up about it during an interaction with Manasi Parekh and Swapnil Joshi. She had visited the actress’ house for their Gujarati film, Shubhchintak.

As Parekh revealed that their film is made on a small budget of Rs 5 crore, Khan expressed her shock. She goes on to share that when someone tells her that their song is made on a huge budget, it doesn’t impress her because, according to her belief, the lesser the budget one has, the better they think. “The cheapest song of my life is Sheila Ki Jawani,” she added.

The 60-year-old filmmaker’s statement left the actors in shock. Quoted by Hindustan Times, she added, “We didn’t have any set for it. All we had were these 10 dancers. We finished shooting the entire song in just three and a half shifts. It is the cheapest song I have done and the biggest hit of my career. One of the top three-four hits.”

Mansi and Swapnil then proceeded to show her a glimpse of their film, and she couldn’t stop gushing about how different the actress looked in it. She added, “It doesn’t look like a film made with ₹5 crore.”

For those who don’t know, Tees Maar Khan starring Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Akshaye Khanna, and others in pivotal roles, was directed by Farah Khan. The iconic song was sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Vishal Dadlani, and composed by the music duo Vishal–Shekhar. It featured Kaif in a glamorous avatar. To date, the song is considered a chartbuster.

On the work front, Farah Khan was last seen hosting the celebrity cooking reality television show Celebrity MasterChef. It was judged by chefs Vikas Khanna and Ranveer Brar. Celebrities Abhijeet Sawant, Tejasswi Prakash, Usha Nadkarni, Archana Gautam, Nikki Tamboli, Gaurav Khanna, and Faisal Shaikh, among others, were seen as contestants. The show was won by the Anupamaa actor, and he was awarded a Rs 20 lakh cash prize.
