Boney Kapoor Reveals Ex-Wife Mona Shourie Kapoor Bought His & Sridevi’s Wedding Rings: ‘I Was Divided’

Producer Boney Kapoor has always been vocal about his first failed marriage and the challenges he has faced while managing two families. He never shies away from expressing how hos personal choices shaped his life as well as his kids’, Arjun Kapoor, Anshula Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, and Khushi Kapoor, lives. During an interaction with Chanda Kochhar for her YouTube channel, Kapoor recently reflected on the complexities of his two marriages to Mona Shourie Kapoor and then to Sridevi, and the emotional toll it took on everyone around him.

Speaking about the same, Kapoor revealed that he had informed Mona about his liking towards Sridevi. He had confessed about it. He went on to reveal that the wedding rings he and the legendary actress wore were selected by none other than his late ex-wife. Quoted by Hindustan Times, he said, “Look at this ring I’m wearing and the one Sridevi was wearing. Both were bought by Mona….She brought the children up without creating any kind of hatred toward me or the other kids.”

Describing the emotional toll it took on him to balance both the worlds, his kids from his first marriage and new life with the late actress, he stated that he felt “divided,” especially since Sridevi had lost bothe her parents. He said, “I have a letter from Arjun (Kapoor) where he asked me, ‘Why don’t you come home?’ I used to feel bad. What could I do? I was divided. On one side was my wife (Sridevi), and on the other side were my kids. I couldn’t leave her alone.”

He went on to add that despite being raised by their mother and their grandparents, his separation from Mona deeply affected Arjun and Anshula. Boney expressed that he even though he loved his kids very much, he had to be strong to handle the situation. He commended his first wife’s maturity and noted that she never turned the kids against him.

For those who don’t know, Boney Kapoor tied the knot with Mona Shourie Kapoor in 1983. They became parents to a son Arjun Kapoor and a daughter Anshula Kapoor. However after a painful separation, the producer went on to tie the knot with actress Sridevi in 1996. They beautifully raised their daughters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, before the late actress’ untimely demise in 2018.
