Banyan Group Marks 100th Resort and Singapore Debut

Banyan Group is celebrating two milestones this November: the grand opening of its 100th resort and its long-awaited arrival to Singapore.

The Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree officially opens its doors with the inaugural Rainforest Festival, a week-long celebration of sustainability and community running November 27 to December 3. Banyan Group sees the resort opening as a Singapore homecoming, as the company was formed there in 1994 ahead of its first hotel opening in Thailand.

The new property, owned by Mandai Wildlife Group, marks Banyan’s debut in Singapore and sits at the heart of the Mandai Wildlife Reserve, the city-state’s integrated nature and wildlife destination. The festival, which closes out Banyan Group’s “100 Journeys” global activation campaign, will donate all ticket proceeds to the President’s Challenge, matched dollar-for-dollar by both Banyan Group and the Singapore government under the SG60 Matching Grants program.

“The Rainforest Festival is our way of giving back as we mark our 100th milestone and a symbolic homecoming to Singapore. It also celebrates more than a decade of partnership and shared vision with Mandai Wildlife Group in bringing our flagship resort to life,” Banyan Group CEO Eddy See said in a statement. “The festival embodies our belief that travel can be a force for good – connecting people with nature, culture, and community.”

The Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree showcases the brand’s signature focus on sustainability through elevated structures, tree preservation and circular resource systems. Festival attendees can explore the Discovery Trail, a self-guided journey through the resort’s architecture and art installations, or visit The Wishing Tree, a living artwork that grows with messages of hope and renewal. The Banyan Gallery Showcase will display hand-crafted works from artisans around the world, reflecting the brand’s ethos of cultural storytelling through design.

Over the weekend, the resort’s ballroom transforms into an experiential market in partnership with GREEN-HOUSE HangOut, Singapore’s leading sustainable lifestyle platform. Visitors can browse locally made goods and participate in rainforest-inspired workshops. The Festival Stage will feature performances from homegrown acts including Joie Tan, Jack & Rai and MICappella, while well-being sessions at the Banyan Tree Spa invite guests to join yoga, sound healing and mindfulness programs.

One of the highlights, 100 Sun Salutations, commemorates the group’s centennial property milestone with a collective, rhythmic flow symbolizing unity and renewal. Family-friendly programs — like Rangers’ Club workshops and guided nature walks — connect children and adults alike with Singapore’s biodiversity.

Beyond the resort, visitors can explore Mandai Wildlife Reserve attractions, including Rainforest Wild Asia and Bird Paradise, with 20% of proceeds donated to the President’s Challenge. Paid experiences include behind-the-scenes wildlife tours, a Rooftop Golden Hour High Tea Escape and a Thai-Peranakan culinary collaboration by Banyan Tree chefs Alex Siah and Tipaporn Phianthong.

Festival tickets are priced at S$10 on weekdays and S$15 on weekends, with free entry for children under four. Ticket holders receive discounts across the precinct and at the Banyan Tree Spa.

For Banyan Group, this isn’t just another ribbon-cutting. Expanding to the city where the company crossed the starting line feels like a fitting tribute to a brand that built its identity on thoughtful travel.
