Artemis II took off on April 01, 2026 with four astronauts on a 10-day trip to the moon and back. On the 6th of April, the crew aboard the Orion spacecraft, namely NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman (50), Artemis II commander; NASA astronaut Victor Glover (49), Artemis II pilot; NASA astronaut Christina Koch (47), Artemis II mission specialist; and Canadian Space Agency (CSA) astronaut Jeremy Hansen (50), Artemis II mission specialist, conducted a 7-hour-long lunar flyby. The crew also broke the record of traveling the farthest distance from Earth, earlier set by the Apollo 13 mission, by reaching 252,760 miles from the planet towards the far side of the moon. After the successful flyby, the Orion spacecraft is en route to Earth and will splash down on the 10th of April. While we are still a couple days from Artemis II’s arrival, NASA has already set the Artemis III campaign in motion!
In its latest tweet, the premier space agency made a clarion call for influencers and content creators to cover the rollout of the third Space Launch System (SLS) rocket’s core stage at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. NASA wrote

Reacting to the announcement renowned astrophotographer Andrew James McCarthy jibed in jest

So what exactly is going on and how do content creators get to enroll for the Artemis III initiation? But most importantly, what’s the timeline for the Artemis III launch? Is Nasa rushing ahead of its itinerary?
Per NASA, the content creators will be part of the attendees who will witness the rollout of the third SLS (Space Launch System) core stage as it is prepped to head from NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. Here’s what’s in for the creators
The day for the event has not been announced yet but is scheduled somewhere between mid and late April. With a limited slot of only 20 digital creators, there will undoubtedly be thousands of applicants. If you are a citizen of the US residing in the country right now, you can head over to the link here and apply. The application site also states the eligibility criteria for applicants. The applicants who cannot physically make it to the roll out site are discouraged from applying.
Artemis III | Crewed Landing Or Nah?
Per NASA
The Artemis III mission will launch crew in the Orion spacecraft on top of the SLS (Space Launch System) rocket to test rendezvous and docking capabilities between Orion and commercial spacecraft needed to land astronauts on the Moon. NASA will announce specifics on the Artemis III mission design and crew closer to the 2027 launch.
The Artemis III mission will test the lunar landers and possibly extra vehicular activity (EVA) before Artemis IV attempts a crewed landing in 2028.
