Apple Rolls Out iOS 18.5 Beta 3; Fresh Features And Fixes You Need To Know

Apple has rolled out the third developer beta for iOS 18.5, signaling that the update is almost ready for its public release, expected in early May. While this update doesn’t introduce any groundbreaking features, it focuses on fixing bugs and improving overall performance, making it a crucial step before the final version of iOS 18.5 arrives.

As the tech world looks ahead to iOS 19, which is set to debut at WWDC 2025 on June 9, it seems Apple is wrapping up its work on iOS 18.5 with mostly minor adjustments. The third beta addresses several persistent issues that have been affecting both regular users and developers.

One notable fix in iOS 18.5 beta 3 addresses a problem where enterprise apps were failing to launch. Apple has recommended that users affected by this bug uninstall and reinstall their apps to resolve the issue. Another fix involves Siri, which had been struggling to play Apple Music songs, particularly across multiple platforms. This issue has now been resolved, making Siri’s music functionality smoother and more reliable. Additionally, there were several glitches with Apple’s AI-powered Writing Tools, particularly with text suggestions, which have also been addressed, improving the overall typing experience.

For developers, this beta fixes issues related to StoreKit, which were affecting in-app purchase testing and other developer functions. These fixes should make it easier for developers to work on their apps without running into the same technical problems. Another fix targets the Vision Pro app, which had been displaying a black screen when launched. This was a significant bug for users of Apple’s mixed reality headset, and now, with the fix in place, the app should launch properly.

Though iOS 18.5 beta 3 isn’t bringing any flashy new features, it does include a few useful UI tweaks. The Mail app has seen some enhancements, including a new option in the three-dot menu to toggle Contact Photos on or off. The “Group by Sender” feature, which used to be only accessible through the Settings app, can now be easily toggled from within the Mail app itself.

In addition, AppleCare management has been improved. A new section under Apple Account settings allows users to view their AppleCare coverage details and offers a “Manage Plan” option to renew or modify their coverage. These options are easily accessible by selecting a device under the Apple ID menu in the Settings app.

As Apple nears the completion of iOS 18.5, this third beta brings necessary fixes and improvements to ensure the final release will be stable and polished, setting the stage for the upcoming iOS 19 later this year.
