Instagram influencer and content creator Apoorva Mukhija, aka Rebel Kid, made the headlines this year for being embroiled in India’s Got Latent Controversy. She had made an appearance on Samay Raina’s show along with Ashish Chanchlani and Ranveer Allahbadia. However, their appearance was not welcomed by the netizens, as many filed complaints about them due to their statements and crude remarks on the show. At the same time, she made her Bollywood debut with Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor starrer Nadaaniyan.
In a recent interview with Mashable India’s The Bombay Journey, which is hosted by Siddhaarth Aalamayan, she opened up the film. Revealing that she is close friends with Saif Ali Khan’s son, she added that because of the India’s Got Latent controversy, she couldn’t process that her love story arc in the film was chopped off from the final cut.
While expressing that she has never lived in Delhi, but in Noida NCR, for four years, she shared that she didn’t know living there was a ‘bad thing’. She went on to mention her work in Nadaaniyan, in which characters hailing from Noida are looked down upon. When asked if she has watched the entire film or just her parts, Apoorva said, “Puri dekhi hai yaar. Aise mat karo.”
The 24-year-old content creator went on to add, “Mere liye, the movie will always be special, because it was the first project that I had worked on. I’m very close with everybody on that set, considering I’m a very difficult person to be friends with.”
Asked if Khushi is on her speed dial, she said, “No, not Khushi. But Ibrahim, I’m very close to him. Also, Neel (Neel Dewan played the role of Veer in the film), who was my boyfriend in the movie, that never really established in the final cut, ki hum dono ek dusre ko date kar rahe hai. But humara ek pura arc tha. He and I are very good friends.”
Opening up about how she felt after knowing that her arc was removed from the film, Apoorva expressed that she didn’t feel bad or discouraged since she was going through a lot at that time. Referring to her India’s Got Latent controversy, she said, “Nahi, tab already mere saath itna kuch bura ho raha tha ki woh toh maine register bhi nahi kiya ki aisa bhi kuch hua hai.”
“Yeh sab toh chalta rehta hai,” she added. The influencer concluded by saying, “Ek jagah mera cut hua nahi, aur ek jagah mera sab cut ho gaya, toh mujhe samajh nahi aa raha tha ki mein kis cheez ke liye roun.”
Talking about Nadaaniyaan’s plot, it centers around the life of Arjun (Played by Ibrahim) and Pia (played by Khushi), who have completely different paths. While she wants a perfect partner, he wants to be a perfect student. They make a deal to fake date in front of their peers, in exchange for money. However, things start getting out of hand when their loved ones get involved and they start developing feelings for each other.
Directed by Shauna Gautam, Nadaaniyan stars debutant Ibrahim Ali Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Jugal Hansraj, Dia Mirza, Suniel Shetty, and Mahima Chaudhry, among many others. The film is currently streaming on Netflix, having premiered on March 7, 2025.
