Amid Deepika Padukone’s Departure, Prabhas’ Tight Schedule Becomes A Hurdle In Kalki 2 Shoot?

Released in 2024, Kalki 2898 AD was a huge hit. Based around the Mahabharata characters, set in a futuristic dystopian world, the film starred Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamaal Haasan in lead roles. Fans have been eagerly waiting for an update on the sequel to the film, which was announced recently. Opening up about the same, director Nag Ashwin had revealed that the shoot of the film would start this year itself.

However, a recent report suggests that the sequel is facing delays because of Prabhas’ jam-packed schedule. Yes, you read that right! Quoting a recent report by 123 Telugu, News18 states that he is busy completing his prior commitments, the shooting of his films The Raja Saab and Fauji. The report went on to add that there are no dates currently available.

For those who don’t know, the sequel of Kalki 2898 AD will focus on Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan) taking forward his mission after gaining strength. It will also explore the connection between Prabhas (Karn, who was reborn as Bhairava) and Amitabh Bachchan (Ashwatthama) as they fight to protect Deepika Padukone (SUM-80) and her unborn child, who is believed to be the final divine avatar of Lord Vishnu, Kalki.

Amid these reports, media publications also stated that Padukone was ousted from the film over her demand for shorter work hours, post-motherhood. Her condition has reportedly caused “friction on sets.” The reports suggest that makers are planning to either reduce her role or remove it entirely. It is to be noted that the makers are yet to offer an official confirmation about the same. The reports have come after she was embroiled in a controversy with Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga over similar conditions.

On the work front, Deepika Padukone was last seen in Jawan and Kalki 2898 AD. While she is yet to announce her next projects, it is reported that she will soon be working on the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD. She also might have another cameo in Love & War as well as King. With this new speculation, her fans are eagerly waiting for an update on her next acting project.
