Good Bad Ugly, starring Ajith Kumar, released on 10 April, and was met with a massive fan response. The action-packed film has been filling theaters with full shows across Tamil Nadu. However, amid the overwhelming excitement, a screening at a Chennai theater was marred by an unfortunate incident involving a minor, according to reports.
As reported by Thanthi TV, a showing of Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly at Vettri Theatres on 12 April was interrupted mid-screening. The disruption followed an incident where a disco light, set up to mark the film’s release, became detached and fell, hitting a young child. The young child started crying and screaming as he was hurt.
The child’s family and relatives engaged in a heated dispute with the theater management, questioning the safety measures in the venue. According to reports, both sides eventually reached an agreement, allowing the screening to resume after a 30-minute pause. The incident was reported to the Chromepet police, who initiated an investigation. The accident stunned many moviegoers, leading to disorder at the theater. The theater management has not yet released a public statement addressing the incident.
The mishap at the Good Bad Ugly screening follows a dangerous incident at the film’s pre-release event. To mark the movie’s launch, Ajith’s ardent fans erected “the world’s biggest cutout” of the actor outside a theater in Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu. However, before the cutout was fully assembled, the iron framework supporting its base gave way and collapsed. A video capturing the fall of the cutout and its iron structure has spread widely across social media.

Panic erupted as workers and fans assembling the structure scattered to escape danger. Fortunately, no injuries occurred, narrowly avoiding a major disaster. Such accidents near theaters are not uncommon. In December 2024, Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre made headlines when a stampede broke out during a screening of Pushpa 2. The chaos unfolded as a large crowd surged to see Allu Arjun, who made an unexpected appearance at the film’s premiere.
