After the iPhone 17 launch on September 9, attention has shifted to Apple’s anticipated October event, typically reserved for new MacBook releases. Rumors suggest that supply-chain issues may delay the launch of the M5-powered MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, though mass production is reportedly starting soon. Apple is also expected to unveil new external monitors alongside the laptops.

After the iPhone 17 launch, Apple is now turning its attention to other upcoming devices. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter, the company is preparing several new models, including MacBook Pro and MacBook Air laptops powered by the M5 chipset. While mass production is reportedly starting soon, the laptops may see minimal upgrades aside from the new processor, with major changes reserved for future M6-powered models.

The new MacBook Pro is expected in two models, codenamed J714 and J716, while the MacBook Air could arrive as J813 and J815. Despite Apple’s typical October launch window for MacBooks, supply-chain challenges could delay the M5-powered models to early next year. This is consistent with Apple’s previous pattern, as the M2 Pro and M2 Max MacBook Pros were launched in January 2023.

In addition to laptops, Apple plans to release two new Mac monitors, reportedly codenamed J427 and J527. These monitors are expected to follow a similar launch timeline as the MacBooks, with a debut projected between late 2025 and early 2026.
Other anticipated products include a refreshed iPad Pro with the M5 chipset, expected to be unveiled at Apple’s October event along with a portrait-facing selfie camera. The event may also introduce AirTag 2 and an iterative update to the Apple Vision Pro, marking a busy season of new product announcements beyond the iPhone 17.
For the unversed, Apple recently launched Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch SE3, AirPods Pro 3 alongside Apple iPhone 17 series.
