When the show first premiered on September 26, 2024, ‘Nobody Wants This’ instantly became a fan favorite and was renewed for season 2. What made the Adam Brody and Kristen Bell-starrer show such a hit was its relatable storyline. There were moments that gave viewers butterflies – hello!! The insane first kiss. The moments of Joanne and Morgan were equally loved. In addition, the online dating chaos was wonderfully addressed, emphasising how difficult dating has become right now. Soon, the show became a perfect rom-com to binge-watch, making Brody’s Noah a favourite fictional boyfriend. However, with the season 2 release on October 23, 2025, the show seems to have lost its charm, making Brody’s Noah more a rabi than Joanne’s boyfriend.

Nobody Wants This Season 2
Nobody Wants This, featuring ‘shiksa’ podcaster Joanne (Kristen Bell) and her rabbi boyfriend Noah (Adam Brody), took Netflix by storm last year, leading to high viewership and Emmy nominations. The show took a serious-minded approach to interfaith relationships. After finally getting together with Noah, Joanne pledged to convert to Judaism. But then, she changed her mind. She did not want to force Noah to choose between her and his life’s calling. Season one finale saw the pair, Noah, sprint after a downcast Joanne and admitted it was true, he couldn’t have both, before leaning in on Joanne— a classic romcom climax.

As we reunited with Joanne and Noah in season two, you would be forgiven for assuming none of it really mattered at all. The question of conversion continued to overwhelm Joanne and Noah’s romantic bliss. Their relationship even became repetitive in season 2, however, allowing the remaining cast to shine.
Iconic moment: Stephanie Faracy, who played Joanne’s mother, recreated her iconic Madonna Halloween costume on the show, 32 years later.
No spoilers, but I adore that the new season of Nobody Wants This does an homage to Stephanie Faracy’s (Joanne’s mom) iconic Madonna Halloween costume from when she was in Hocus Pocus pic.twitter.com/OcEBpNuGvO

Is Noah No Longer Favourite Fictional Boyfriend?
Followers of the show seemed to have trouble liking Brody’s character, Noah. Throughout season 1, Noah is the perfect boyfriend. He is thoughtful, kind, patient, reassuring, and not allergic to communication – qualities considered extremely rare in the real dating landscape. However, season 2 turns Noah into a little bit annoying.
Internet Has Thoughts!
I’m hating this season of Nobody Wants This. Sorry that’s too much about that “religion” packed in one season, seems like they want us to believe how wonderful their community is given the current political climate. NOPE! Noah is not attractive anymore, he is just a rabbi now… pic.twitter.com/Z3SAZDVYp9

At the end of season 1, Joanne and Noah were on the same page. While Joanne made it very clear that she was not willing to convert, a hesitant Noah addmited that he can’t have both, yet picked Joanne, which made Noah even more likeable. However, when the season 2 started, he was seen actively lying to everyone, claiming that Joanne is still going to convert.
When she asks him to stop pressuring her, he doesn’t really stop, but becomes subtle with his approach. Even Esther (Jackie Tohn) tried to convince her that she is fit for the Jewish religion because she is “warm and cosy,” “funny,” “always getting in everyone’s business,” and “loves to overshare.”
Identical Finale

In addition, Noah didn’t actually do anything to make Valentine’s Day meaningful to Joanne. He rather repeated the same plans and gifts he did with his exes. How shallow! During the show’s storyline, Noah appears on Joanne’s podcast, where one of his exes calls into the show, revealing how Noah would give them gifts, make long-term plans, allowing them to think they are in a relationship, and it is future-oriented. Then he would break up with them. Ouch!
Season 1 Over Season 2?
outside of the leighton episode, the final scene of noah and joanne and the possibility of morgan and sasha getting together i still preferred nobody wants this s1 over s2 pic.twitter.com/P0avje7D24

Understandably, no one is perfect, and that is what the show’s theme aimed to display. But Noah was trying too hard to be the ‘good boyfriend,’ without actually doing much, but the bare minimum. Yes, he loves her, but his actions towards her come across as less sincere, now that we know his history. With his lying, resentment, and lack of caring, it is kind of challenging to like Noah by the end of the season. Nobody Wants This season 2 also builds to a nearly identical finale decision, and by the end of the show, you may not care enough. Perhaps season 3 will be the season we all wanted, giving the show’s charm back.
