Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra OTT Release Date Revealed? Fans Demand Malayalam Superhit To Debut Online

The Malayalam superhero film Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, produced by Dulquer Salmaan, became the highest-grossing Malayalam movie ever, amassing over Rs. 300 crore on a modest budget of Rs. 30 crore. Despite this, the film’s release on digital platforms remains uncertain

Directed by Dominic Arun, Lokah Chapter 1 follows Chandra Ananya, portrayed by Kalyani Priyadarshan, a centuries-old vampire living incognito in Bengaluru. She navigates a solitary existence while confronting urban crime, until her neighbor Sunny, played by Naslen, begins unraveling her hidden identity. The ensemble cast also features Arun Kurian as Naijil, Chandu Salim Kumar as Venu, Nishanth Sagar as Prakash, Sandy Master as Inspector Nachiyappa Gowda, Raghunath Paleri as Tom Isaac, Jain Andrews as Home Minister Murugesan, and Tovino Thomas in a supporting role as Michael.

As of October 24, no confirmed OTT release date has been set for Lokah Chapter 1. Early buzz pointed to an early October streaming launch, with some speculation tying it to Diwali. However, the rollout has been postponed. Dulquer Salmaan recently quashed false reports, posting on X: “Lokah isn’t coming to OTT anytime soon. Ignore the fake news and stay tuned for official announcements! #Lokah #WhatstheHurry.”

The delay sparked frustration among netizens, particularly those outside regions with easy theater access. One fan tweeted, “Lokah OTT release when sir @dulQuer,” while another lamented, “Me patiently waiting for Lokah OTT release.” A third expressed growing impatience: “Lokah OTT pe kab aayegi? Wait kar kar ke mood off ho rha ab!!” At the same time, some acknowledge the strategic holdback, with comments like, “It’s still running in malls; I saw Lokah playing yesterday.”

The film’s OTT home is expected to be JioHotstar though official confirmation is pending. This wait only amplifies anticipation, especially as the franchise expands. A sequel, Lokah Chapter 2, has already been greenlit.
