‘It Was All About Isolation’: The Traitors Player Anushla Kapoor Dismisses Allegations On Karan Johar’s Show

Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor’s sister Anshula Kapoor, who is an entrepreneur and mental health advocate, is currently making the headlines for her stint on Karan Johar’s new reality show The Traitors. On Tuesday, she took to her official social media handle to open up about the show and addressed the allegations of it being a scripted show. Expressing her shock, she issued a clarification and shared what went on behind the scenes during the shoot of the show, which is currently airing on Prime Video.

Taking to her Instagram handle, Anshula revealed that her DM is currently flooded with messages about the show, and how many are feeling that it is a scripted show. She clarified that the players weren’t given any script. Shedding light on what all happened before they started shooting for the show, she also stated that the makers had made sure that the contestants did not interact with each other.

Quoted by the Free Press Journal, she starts the video by saying, “’The Traitors is scripted’ – How can this be the number one DM in my DMs right now? Guys and girls, Traitors is not scripted. There was not 1 per cent of a script given to any of the 20 participants of this show.”

Recalling how everything went down before they began filming the first episode of the show, Kapoor revealed that “there was so much secrecy,” to the point that they weren’t even informed who their fellow participants were. She added, “When we were flying from Bombay to shoot for this…on my flight, I think Elnaz Nourozi, Ashish Vidhyarthi ji, Sufi Motiwala, and Jannat Zubair were there. To keep it as secret as possible, even the check-in process at the airport, we were given different slots. We were all given a shadow.”

To maintain the secrecy and suspense, since there were 20 participants, the makers divided them into two different hotels where they were first staying after reaching the destination. “Two days back, we were sent to Jaisalmer via Jodhpur. And while we were getting checked in at the hotel, they literally were like, ‘Okay, you’ll have your phone for like three hours more’. Not just phones. All the electronic equipment. They were taking it all. It was all about isolation. Because they didn’t want us to form alliances outside the show. I think that the more you trust somebody from outside because you know them, the harder it gets. And I can speak of this from personal experience,” the 34-year-old entrepreneur concluded.

Talking about the show, the concept of The Traitors is simple. 20 celebrities have been taken to an isolated place where three traitors from the 20 contestants will be selected during the game. While the viewers will know who the traitors are, the contestants won’t. According to the rules, the selected traitors will then have to pretend to be innocent, all the while “murdering” the innocent contestants. Every week, one player will get killed and their photo will be dropped by Karan Johar from the wall of players. The contestants will have to gather around a trust table, discuss and lock their answers on who they think are the three traitors.

Released on Amazon Prime on 12th June, the makers will release 3 new episodes every Thursday at 8 pm. Hosted by Karan Johar, the winner of the show will reportedly stand a chance to win a prize money of Rs 1 crore.
